Art, Churches and Via Crucis
ART
There are several artists around, including painters, sculptors, writers, musicians and actors, that often hold solo or groupexhibitions
of paintings, photographs, artefacts and other objects. Amongst them is the local artist LYDIA SILVESTRI, whose works are part of major
public and privatecollections dotted around the globe.
In Livigno, you can find the "MONUMENTO AI CADUTI" (WAR MEMORIAL) built in 1968
(Piazza del Comune) andthe "FILO DI ARIANNA" (ARIADNE'S THREAD), where the artist has recreated a real walk through the myth, in which residents
and spectators are able to experience firsthand. The various exhibits are displayed next to nodal buildings for the life and development
of tourist and cultural activities and along the pedestrian and cycle track
Inaugurated and blessed by His Excellency DIEGO COLETTI in 2009, the new Via Crucis in Livigno follows the pedestrian and cycle track.
Fifteen "stages" in total, whose bas-reliefs were created by the valtellinese sculptor G. ABRAM, with the last stop dedicated to the resurrection.

Sant'Anna
[+]
Built in 1924, the austere architecture of the church is reminiscent of the Romanesque style: a longitudinal nave, polygonal apse, side
buttresses and an internal ceilingmatching the pitched roof. The gabled façade has only two windows and a small porch, with a ceramic reproduction
of the Madonna and Child by Luca della Robbia, donatedin 1960.
On the right hand side there is the bell-tower on a square base with sinuous
lines rising up to a beautiful cusp. The interior hasa single nave entirely clad in larch wood and the vertical panelling extends to the
ceiling right up to the roof ridge. The choir is located at the back of the chancel, partly obscured by an altarpiece and flanked by a column
where the tabernacle is situated. The engraved pulpit to the left of the altar has a lacquered finish and isa relic of the original church,
whose construction began in 1648 and which was demolished in the early 1900’s.
The altarpiece and the altarwere built in 1991 and reproduced
in bas-relief by Fulvio Vanini. Significant episodes in the life of Christ are depicted such as the feeding of the 5000 (loaves andfish),
the Resurrection of Lazarus, the Annunciation, the Last Supper, the Nativity, the Resurrection, the Assumption of Mary and the feast of
All Saints
Tothe right of the side walls of the nave (starting from the back) there is a large canvas by Cocquio depicting the miracle
of the multiplying of the loaves (1961). Inthe background, there is an illustration of the Trepalle Valley; an altar to the Dead in triptych
(neo-Gothic style of Tyrolean origin); the altar of the Sacred Heart;a canvas depicting the Last Supper also by Cocquio (1961). To the left
(starting from the back), there is yet another painting by Cocquio portraying Saint Anna and theVirgin Mary; the altar of Saint Antonio
Abate in Empire style, with an engraved and lacquered wood finish; the seventeenth century altar of Our Lady of the Rosary; thebaptistery
with a canvas by Cocquio depicting the Baptism of Jesus (1962). The 14 panels in bas-relief comprising the Stations of the Cross, cast in
