LIVIGNO,THE QUEEN OF HIGH ALTITUDE TRAINING, IS PROCLAIMED AS "EUROPEAN TOWN OF SPORT 2019"

Yesterday in Rome, on the 12th of November, Livigno was recognized as European Sports municipality 2019 by the commission of ACES Europe, thanks to its services, activities and structures that the destination offers to its guests.

Last July, the commission ACES Europe and its president Gian Francesco Lupatelli visited Livigno to analyze its value in the matter of sports.

The attention that the Little Tibet puts to the sport is strong, thanks to the daily offer that the queen of the altitude training , in the heart of the Italian Alps, offers to its guests every day, thanks to the innovation and the continuous updating of the accommodation facilities, of the services, events and programs for the youth that every day includes different activities. Not only winter sports, but also many other outdoor- and indoor sports: Livigno presents as an open air gym situated at 1816 meter’s height that does not only offer the possibility of practicing sports, but also to take advantage of the multiple benefits that the height offers.

“For us, sport is of major importance” declares Damiano Bormolini, the mayor of Livigno “we are very proud of receiving this recognition of European level, result of our daily commitment to make the destination accessible to everyone. We are happy to ascertain how the young people are passionate and how the sport can be an educational tool. The municipality continues to be active with actions that amplifies the structural level of the sports offer in Livigno.”

The councilor of sport Samantha Todeschi declares: ”A big achievement for the destination, that confirms the importance of the sport value in a community. Not only for winter sports but also for other activities. The commitment of the Municipality is evident with the upcoming athletic track and soccer field, as well as for the programmed work for the olympic swimming pool of 50 meters and the covered tennis ground”.
