VISMA SKI CLASSICS ‘157’, NORGREN AND PERSSON. LIVIGNO PROLOGUE ‘FREESTYLE’ IN VIEW OF THE OLYMPICS

Today “Livigno Prologue” of 35 km CT. “We put a little freestyle into everything we do” stated Luca Moretti, President of the Livigno Tourism Office. Emil Persson won the men’s race ahead of Pedersen and Hoelgaard ‘Mum Norgren’ won the ladies’ race ahead of Smutna and Gjeitnes

The second Visma Ski Classics race took place today in the ‘Olympic’ Livigno, one of the venue of the Olympic Winter Games 2026 Milan-Cortina. The race was won by a great Britta Johansson Norgren, further ‘motivated’ by her daughter who cheered on her mum in the finish area, and by Emil Persson, completing a memorable weekend in the ‘Little Tibet’ for Team Lager 157 that triumphed both in the Pro Team Tempo and in the individual races. The Livigno Prologue was a mass start of six loops for a total of 35 km; the first three loops were also covered in the Pro Team Tempo on Friday. And on the climb of Teola there was a real show: the organising committee of Livigno built a mini slopestyle line with jumps in the race course. Three freeskiers even made jumps over the athletes, celebrating the 2026 Olympics in the ‘Little Tibet’. "We put some freestyle into everything we do" said the President of the Tourism Office Luca Moretti. The event was attended by the freeskier Elisa Nakab of the Livigno Team and the Italian national freestyle team, by Ian Rocca and Tobia Silvestri, a local freeskier who designed and built the slopestyle line.

The ladies were the first to start. Norgren won the first sprint ahead of Korsgren, Fleten and Slind, while the second sprint was won by Larsson just ahead of Norgren, who recovered a dozen positions. With ten km to go, Smutna led the group with Slind and Norgren. The athletes arrived to the second climb and the champion Norgren got the better of Slind. Britta began to accelerate on the final climb, leaving the others to fight for the second and third place. The Swede triumphed and hugged her daughter at the finish, while a satisfied Smutna raced to a second place finish and Kari Vikhagen Gjeitnes finished third.

In the men’s race, which started later, the silver Olympic medallist Aleksandr Panžinskij of the Italian Trentino Robinson team won the first sprint at km 7 ahead of Stian Berg. Nygaard seemed to be the most courageous of the group and after 17 km the athletes of Team Ragde tried to get the lead. Holmberg was the first on the first climb just ahead of Jespersen and Kardin. But Pedersen got the better on the second climb just ahead of Jespersen and Holmberg. With 5 km to go, Petter Eliassen tried to accelerate, but unsuccessfully; everything was decided in the final part of the race. Emil Persson – another athlete representing the Lager 157 team – triumphed ahead of Morten Eide Pedersen at the photo finish. Third place to Stian Hoelgaard and fourth to Marcus Johansson. Gjerdalen finished sixth, literally destroyed, 9th Nygaard, 11th Eliassen. This spectacular weekend in Livigno was rich in snow, champions and amateurs who gathered to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of ‘Sgambeda’.
