PRESS DAY 2018 LIVIGNO SUMMER LIVE: LITTLE TIBET’S SUMMER SCHEDULE

The entire day of 12th June will be devoted to Livigno with the Livigno Summer Live press day. The event, to take place in PR & Go Up, will provide for the alternation of a range of the excellent features Livigno has to offer, including food and wine, sport, wellbeing and fun. Little Tibet will present itself in a location set out in 100% Livigno style, and feature the  destination’s entire summer schedule.

The aim of the press day is to provide a detailed presentation of everything Livigno has to offer visitors throughout the summer, giving importance and paying considerable attention to the biking sector. This will be done through the presence of Vittorio Brumotti, who is to describe his new travelling bike trial project, sponsored by FAI and supported by Livigno, an adventure on two wheels winding through Italy. Livigno not only offers opportunities to do sport, but all-round fun and wellness, too. Indeed, it also features Aquagranda, well-known as being one of the largest centres in Europe bringing together sport and relaxation. As far as the institutional part is concerned, the staff of Livigno APT (tourist and promotion office) and President Luca Moretti will be present to provide an overview of the resort.

The leitmotif of summer 2018 in Livigno is a combination of active holiday and nature, a season to experience in the great outdoors to the rhythm of sport. The very special geographical layout of the valley alternates flat circuits with peaks, woods and lakes so visitors can choose from more traditional outdoor activities such as mountain and road biking, hiking and trekking, to excursions and climbing with alpine guides. The resort also offers activities such as horse-riding and paragliding, golf and tennis, as well as stand up paddling, kayaking and rides on pedalòs. For the whole summer, Livigno will attract both professional and amateur bikers, runners and triathletes, engaged in international competitions such as the Livigno Skymarathon and Livigno K17 (16th June), Bike Transalp (16th-17th July), the Stralivigno (21st July) and Icon Livigno Xtreme Triathlon (28th August-2nd September).

In summer as indeed winter, Livigno confirms itself as an all-round lifestyle destination which, besides the many opportunities for doing sport and keeping fit, offers more relaxing and “city-style” alternatives, too. These range from duty-free shopping in an out and out open-air shopping centre at altitude consisting of over 250 shops, to the events and festivals which celebrate the rural origins of the valley and its traditions. These include Notte Bianca (White Night on 14th July) and Notte Nera (Black Night on 10th August), the feast of the patron saint, Santa Maria Nascente (8th September), and the Alpenfest (22nd-23rd September) which hails the return of the cattle from their summer grazing ground to Livigno and Trepalle.

The gastronomy and typical products of the mountains are a privileged key to discovering the territory and the Gourmet Path (12th July). With its 5km tasting route organised by the association of chefs and confectioners of Livigno, the event is a unique opportunity for  visitors to enjoy dishes from the area, either in their pure state or reworked by local chefs to include both tradition and innovation.

The schedule of events continues on 24th August by recalling the winter season with a double appointment, namely the trophy of the districts, Trofeo delle Contrade and 1Kshot. The people of Livigno, dressed in traditional clothing will compete in a ski race on occasion of the Trofeo delle Contrade, one of the most strongly felt events in the village. On this date, the unmissable 1KShot competition will also take place, in which top athletes from the Biathlon World Cup and cross-country skiing will compete for the off-season podium. This event, that anticipates the autumnal season of nordic skiing which kicks off at the beginning of October must not be missed, and was made possible through the snowfarming technique. The snow that will be used to prepare the route was stored during the winter on the central plain of the village and covered first with sawdust and then a geothermal sheet to isolate it from the air temperature and reflect the sun’s rays

The summer reserves tailor-made accommodation packages for professional athletes, sports enthusiasts or simply those who enjoy a healthy, outdoor life. The various packages can be purchased by accessing the livigno.eu website. They combine admission to Aquagranda Active You!, one of the biggest centres for sport - but not only - in Europe with overnight stays in hotels or flats fitted out with special services for different types of guests ranging from Bike Hotels & Apartments to Active and Family Hotel & Apartments.

Lastly, there are the special offers for families, to whom Livigno offers a range of attractions, theme parks and services, such as the Lupigno Kinder Club for its littlest guests. Family Week Summer from 7th to 14th July is devoted to Mums and Dads travelling with children. Anyone booking this week can have one child stay in a hotel completely free of charge and also benefit from a 50% discount for a second child, or a 15% discount if they stay in a flat. Children will also be entitled to free access to Kinderclub Lupigno and discounted rates for Aquagranda Active You!.

Livigno is chosen by many athletes for training at altitude in summer too, and from 1st to 21st July all eyes will be on the destination for the expected arrival of the Italian National swimming team with Federica Pellegrini and other Italian champions.

As of early June, Livigno’s pools and circuits will be the base and setting for a number of national and international teams focussing on high altitude training. Besides the national swimming team of the Czech Republic and Italian rowing team Little Tibet, as this area is also known, will also be getting ready to welcome triathlon champions from Japan and Great Britain, as well as Team Livigno athletes Giulio Molinari, Dorothea Wierer and Diego Caverzasi.
