The Livigno summer season is starting in less than a month, always aiming higher and not only in a metaphorical sense. As every year, the lifts opening will oficially start the season, allow you to reach easily the 3000mt of the two mountain sides that, joining, form the characteristic valley in which the town stretches.
June 8th will be the turn of Mottolino Bike Park, followed on June 15th by Carosello 3000 and the Mountain Area Sitas: with the cable cars anyone will be able to conquer without difficulty the highest peaks, otherwise accessible only to the most experienced mountaineers, enjoying the authentic and regenerative contact with pristine nature, of silence and a breathtaking view of the alpine peaks that frame the landscape.
Once you have reach the peaks, countless opportunities open up, for a walking or cycling just a step away from the sky: Livigno offers 1500 km of trails and 3,200 km of GPS mapped trails suitable for two wheels with different levels of difficulty, for simple panoramic hikings or for great trekkings of technical complexity. To choose the routes best suited to your abilities, from this winter you can contact the Outdoor Center, the new hike&bike center where you can plan excursions with the help and advice of expert Alpine Guides. The Mountain Park Carosello 3000 extends its offer with the ribbon cutting of The Bomb Trail, a rout of 2.7 km and 407m of elevation, for expert bikers that exploits the morphological characteristics of the mountain, while the Mottolino Bike Park meets the needs of who is looking for adrenaline, single track and jump on two wheels.
Among excursions, via ferratas and climbing, the chance to try out the latest two-wheeler trends such as e-bikes and fat bikes, then paragliding, enjoying the lake with its sports like kayaks and stand-up paddles and even become familiar with the basics of golf in the special Golf Training Area, Livigno has always been loved by active people and it returns their loyalty with new projects and structures dedicated to their well-being and altitude training. This summer the new Run&Play area of Aquagranda-Active You! will be inaugurated, among the highest sports and wellness centers in Europe, which widens the range of facilities to train in Livigno with a 6-lane athletics track.
Protected from the wind by a green covered rampart, the track will allow you to run at 1816m above sea level enjoying the beneficial effects of the altitude and taking advantage of the favorable climate for outdoor sessions until November. The project also includes equipment for the practice of all athletics disciplines such as the obstacle course and the throwing of weight and javelin and a Finnish track - a course full of descents and curves, specifically designed for runners and covered with a special elastic material that cushions the strides - and a soccer field made of real grass that will be available from summer 2020.
In Livigno the rebalancing energy of high altitude is truly a heritage for everyone and this year there will be numerous initiatives dedicated to those traveling with children: family-size walks with guides, to bring children closer to the mountain and explore the woods and the local fauna, the exciting journey on the "Avventurando" trail into the Mine Valley that crosses the alpine canyons with zip-lines, fun activities and entertainment at the Kinder Club Lupigno and Aquagranda, which also offers a babysitting service to give parents a few hours of relaxation.
