Confirmed races, Saturday is the day. More than 500 athletes from 10 different countries, this weekend, will be at the start of
Livigno Skymarathon (34km with 2500 md+) and Sky Trail (17km with 1000 md+). Although the abundant winter and spring snowfalls, the trackers coordinated by the Alpine Guide Adriano Greco and by the home champion Marco De Gasperi were able to propose an itinerary already tested and promoted in 2019. The Skyrunning World Series champions and the many fans of running in nature will therefore have the opportunity to run on technical single tracks, steep climbs and adrenaline-filled descents with spectacular passages such as the ferrata that from Monte Mot leads to Val Saliente and some aerial parts that, in a snowy version, will make this edition even more epic and spectacular.
THE PROTAGONISTS:Great champions and simple fans, lined up side by side in a Saturday of Sport with a capital S. Leafing through the starting list of the Livigno Skymarathon, valid as a World Cup stage, there will be athletes of international caliber as the Spanish Manuel Merillas, the Italian Daniel Antonioli, the Basque Asier Larruzea and the Swiss Christian Mathys, Pascal Buchs. In the women's category, the Romanian Denisa Dragomir will be the favorite, but she will have to watch her back against the Italian Elisa Desco, the Norwegian Eli Anne Dvergsdal and the native Basque Mayi Mujika.
Real race also on the 17 km where the names Hannes Perkmann, Luca Cagnati, Mario Olmedo, Andre Rodrigues, Susanna Saapunki and Ivana Iozzia stand out.
LOGITICS & PROGRAM: The starting and finishing site of the two races will be the athletic track of Aquagranda in via Rasia. From here, on Saturday morning, t
he main 34km race will start at 8.30 am and, one hour later, the 17km Sky Trail. In full respect of the regulations in force and in order to avoid gatherings, the prize-giving ceremonies of both trials will be carried out at the arrival of the first runners The race office will also be set up at Aquagranda with the following opening hours: Friday from 9 to 19 and Saturday from 7 to 8. New for 2021 is the online briefing scheduled for late afternoon on Friday.
A RETURN TO THE PAST FOR A GREENER FUTURE:A bit like the races of the past, when you ran in autonomy, even the organizing committee Livigno has adapted to health directives in the era of post-Covid regarding the refreshments. On Saturday there will be 3 refreshments for the long race and 1 for the shorter race. The races will therefore be in semi-self-sufficiency with compulsory water reserve.
All competitors will be required, in the mandatory material, a personal glass. This choice also goes in the direction of limiting the impact on the beautiful environment in which the competition takes place.
