LA SKIEDA 2016 is therefore becoming “IT’S LA SKIEDA TIME”, meaning the time spent together by telemarkers from all over the world in Livigno all throughout its twenty-two-year history, time spent together skiing and partying, time that is continuity yet also growth. To make the next La Skieda even more special and to highlight the atmosphere that has always characterised this week dedicated to all fans of ‘free heel’ skiing and the bond which links them to the mountains, nature and freedom, this year will see the start of “LA SKIEDA WILD TIME”: a unique, exclusive programme for telemarkers who love to really experience the region and its unspoilt nature. LA SKIEDA WILD TIME will let a maximum of 30 telemarkers experience the mountains far from the usual packed places of the event, while spending a night in a lodge and being in contact with nature. Adriano Mottini and Fabiano Monti will be in charge of the LA SKIEDA WILD TIME project, hot on the heels of the ‘Freeride Project’. It will be their job to coordinate the Alpine Guides who will accompany the participants (30 people at most) to guarantee the correct level of safety during the excursions. At the moment, three two-day excursions are planned, each starting out and returning to Livigno. This lets participants decide whether to join one, two or all three excursions, depending on their level of training and the places available.
The excursions are scheduled from Sunday 3rd to Monday 4th April, from Tuesday 5th to Wednesday 6th April and from Thursday 7th to Friday 8th April. They require a similar technical level to that of the “long” excursions offered during LA SKIEDA: good technical/athletic training to tackle two days in a row on skis, involving roughly 600-1,000 metres in altitude difference over trails that will keep telemarkers occupied for the whole day, spending the night at a catered facility or self-service campsite. What do you need to take part? Alongside the classic ski touring equipment, you’ll need a sleeping bag, an avalanche beacon, a shovel, a probe and...a fun-loving spirit!
And that’s not the end to the new features. “IT’S RELAX TIME” will take place on Wednesday 6th April: free afternoon entry will be offered to all accredited telemarkers to the new facility in Livigno, Aquagranda Active You. For anyone who wants to, there will be an afternoon about fun, relaxation, pampering and good food for the whole family in the Slide&Fun area, with relaxation and well-being in the Wellness&Relax area, as well as sports training at the gym and swimming pool in the Fitness&Pool area.
It’s a few weeks to go until the start of the most eagerly awaited week by telemarkers and all the 2016 sponsors have been agreed. The main sponsor of the 22nd edition is BLACK DIAMOND. On Sunday 3rd April, DEVOLD will sponsor IT’S EPOQUE TIME at Carosello 3000. On Thursday 7th April, SCARPA will sponsor TRANSUMANZA in Val Federia, while NORDICA will sponsor the JUNIOR CLASSIC RACE on Friday 8th April at the Livigno Ski School. There will then be many technical sponsors for this year’s LA SKIEDA: Hestra, Deuter, Guasto, Gipron, Timberland, Ortovox, Oxeego and Aperol. While at the TELE EXPO there will be: Zeal Occhiali, K2 Skis, Scott, Volkl, The M Equipment, The North Face and Norrona. There will be just as many institutional sponsors including APT Livigno, Latteria Livigno, Ski Pass Livigno, Alpi Carni, Longa Carni, Partesa and osm1816.
Finally, we’d like to remind you about the online pre-registration offered by the Organising Committee to try to minimise the time required to register and to reward telemarkers who use this option with a lower price, as well as the possibility to enter a prize draw: one name will be chosen at random every week from all the pre-registered members. Many products kindly offered by the LA SKIEDA sponsors will be up for grabs.
