Trails, forests and mountains covered in deep powder snow might be heaven for skiers, snowboarders, snowshoe hikers and ski touring fans, but for most mountain bikers, winter usually equates to ‘off-season’. In Livigno, however, tailor-made trails, a dedicated shuttle service and even chair lift access mean winter is also fat bike season.
Unlike ‘normal’ mountain bikes, the extra-large tires, extra-wide rims and very low tire pressure of fat bikes offer a certain level of grip and float on snow.
