Hiking what a passion: Livigno offers you infinite trails

Trails suitable for all levels of preparation, surrounded by the unspoiled nature of the Italian Alps, perfect for an active holiday among lakes, alpine huts, and breathtaking views at 3000 meters above sea level. Livigno is ready to guide travelers on the trails thanks to the Check & Go initiative and to reward the most intrepid hikers with the Win the Wonder contest.

The numerous trails that wind through the woods and lead up to the peaks are a true paradise for trekking enthusiasts. All you need are a pair of hiking boots, a backpack and the advice of the Alpine Guides, who offer many interesting experiences suited to the level of physical and technical preparation of each visitor.

Win the Wonder: the contest to win Livigno

Although Livigno is the favorite destination for athletes and champions who choose it for their high-altitude training, there is no lack of a great variety of trails and routes for a peaceful family holiday in the name of relaxation and fun. This summer trekking in Livigno is worthwhile thanks to Win the Wonder, the virtual competition that encourages visitors to discover lesser-known and isolated spots. On the free My Livigno app it is possible to consult the list of locations to reach, once the one of interest has been identified, will be enough to reach the place and scan the QR code you will find there. In this way, each participant can accumulate points in their virtual wallet and have the opportunity to win the amazing prizes during the final draw.

On the trails in safety with Check and Go

A mountain of surprises awaits all explorers who are planning a holiday in Little Tibet. Another tool designed to accompany hikers to discover the naturalistic beauties of the area is Check & Go, the digital check-in of the trails via QR code, which allows travelers to know, even before departure, which are the trails with less turnout, to experience an excursion in complete tranquility.

Family-friendly experiences

In this regard, for trekking lovers, Livigno offers many easy trails to bring families and explorers closer to this discipline, such as the path that leads visitors, in the heart of Livigno, to the scenic Val Nera waterfalls, reachable in just 1 hour and 40 minutes from the P8 Al Vach car park. Another simple trail suitable for everyone is the Val Federia trail with arrival and departure at Ponte Calcheira: in just 1 hour and 50 minute the trekking goes from 1800 to 2200 meters above sea level and which explores the unspoiled nature of this beautiful valley. Perfect location for family tourism in harmony with nature, where a stop at Malga Federia is a must, where you can experience the “A Farmer's Day” and learn all the secrets of milking and grazing and taste genuine dishes.

Each week the Alpine Guides organize short different trekkings, half a day, to discover the woods and fauna of Livigno in a peaceful atmosphere. The complete program with the dates of the excursions, for example in Val Federia, Val Saliente or Val Alpisella, is available at this link

In addition to hiking trails, another family-friendly activity is the ride along the cycle and pedestrian path, near the town center, which with its 17 km follows the entire length of the valley. Ideal for relaxing walks, the trail starts from the Latteria di Livigno, in the Lago area, and reaches the Forcola area. Totally flat and therefore also accessible by children and parents with strollers, the path boasts several points where you can enjoy a little relaxation by stopping in one of the numerous playgrounds and green areas, but also stop in one of the areas equipped to enjoy a picnic with the whole family

Excursions to alpine lakes

Nature lovers will also appreciate the paths that lead to the spectacular alpine lakes of the area, such as the trails that lead to Lach da li Mina, Lach dal Mont, Lach dal Vach and Lago Nero: medium difficulty scenic treks that lead visitors to the discovery of suggestive stretches of water with the possibility of encountering specimens of ibex or chamois grazing.

On the peaks of taste

Those looking for a tasty gourmet stop when lunchtime approaches, the right advice is to walk along the paths that lead to the typical alpine huts of the area, where you can enjoy traditional local dishes with zero kilometer ingredients. The path that leads to the Ristoro Val Alpisella, for example, is an easy, almost completely flat walk that starts from the Livigno Dairy and arrives, skirting the lake along the flat trail, in an authentic oasis of relaxation and good food. Other gourmet stops to reach on foot or by bicycle are the Alpe Mine Hut, Alpe Federia and Alpe Vago.

A stop in the Baitel
For all explorers on the march, the invitation is to stop in the Baitel, small alpine refuges with free access, where they can take a moment of rest, before resuming the journey, an example is the Baitel dal Canton, which can be reached by trekking panoramic 3.5 kilometers from the P14 Pont Loch car park and which reaches 2,259 meters above sea level.

High altitude trekking

Furthermore, in Livigno there is no shortage of peaks that reach 3,000 meters in height, along these trails, where the clouds are close at hand, the trekking offer is practically infinite, here the most prepared will be able to challenge themselves and their limits between the most representative peaks of Livigno: Monte Vago, Piz da Rin, Cima Fopel, Piz Cotschen, Cima Cavalli, Monte Breva, Piz Paradisin, Corno di Capra, Pizzo Filone and Monte Garrone. With the advice of the Alpine Guides, even the less experienced can enjoy the mountain. An example of trekking at this altitude is the Monte Breva - Somp i Crap Neir trail of 9.3 kilometers and which reaches 3,095 meters of altitude. At the service of visitors, the Outdoor Center stands out, where expert mountain guides and bike guides provide all the information necessary to plan their excursion: in addition to giving directions on the various paths, the guides dispense all useful advice for families, indicating for example, which are the widest paths, accessible even with strollers, and the more technical ones for more experienced hikers.
