Friday, September 3, before sunrise, from the waters of the lake of Livigno will start a route that has attracted athletes from all over the world. Molinari in the race with the Hour Icon project.
Brazil, Poland and Russia. Cyprus, Norway and South Africa. These are just some of the 300 athletes that on Friday, September 3, well before sunrise, will leave to conquer Icon. The most extreme triathlon race in the world, in fact, is now on the horizon and the most awaited protagonists are reaching Livigno, the perfect stage for a race with a breathtaking course.
The start will be given in the dark of the morning, at 5 o'clock, with the swimming fraction of 3 kilometers and 800 meters to be completed in the waters of Lake Livigno. A fraction immediately very selective, that the best in the race should complete in about 50 minutes, managing to tame the prohibitive temperatures of a basin that in the past has welcomed participants at 16-18 degrees Celsius.
And when the most accredited athletes will have already finished the opening fraction, the Icon of the home athlete, Giulio Molinari, proud representative of Livigno Team, will start. For the occasion, in fact, the athlete of the Centro Sportivo Carabinieri, will start one hour later than the other competitors, giving life to the charity project "Hour Icon". For each athlete who will be able to reach and overcome, some partners will make a donation to the association "Il sorriso di Car-lotta", increasing the amount as Giulio will reach the most advanced positions of the ranking. A great challenge, which tells of Molinari's social commitment and of the relationship of communion and solidarity that the athlete has established with the whole locality and with the event in particular.
After the efforts in the water, all participants will have to compete in the bike fraction, with its 5000 meters of total elevation gain spread over 195 kilometers of path between Italy and Switzerland. A real feat, which will see the athletes involved in climbing the Forcola, Bernina, the Forno pass, the Swiss side of the Stelvio and the Foscagno pass. Finally, to complete the whole, here is the final marathon, which will cross some scenic forest passages and stretches of the city center, leading the triathletes up to the Carosello 3000 meters for the final finish line.
Predicting the timing of the individual segments of the race is complex, because many factors will come into play, but for all those who do not want to miss a single moment of Icon, live tracking will be active on the official website. Not only: Livigno and Icon's social channels will be constantly updated throughout the event, allowing fans to stay in touch with the athletes and enjoy the first shots taken on the course. Finally, on the track will also be present a crew of the program Icarus, of the Sky schedule, which will make an exclusive service dedicated to the hardest triathlon in the world.
