The track is located at 1800m a.s.l. and has been built alongside another of Livigno’s major services, Aquagranda Active You with its swimming centre (and much much more). It is a reference point for sportspeople such as marathon runners Valeria Straneo and Sara Dossena, biathletes Dorothea Wierer, Lisa Vittozzi, Ivona Fialokova and Tiril Eckhoff and swimmers Federica Pellegrini, Margherita Panziera and Simona Quadarella.
The opening of the track is just around the corner and many professional riders, from both Italy and abroad who are coming to train in Little Tibet in preparation for the World Athletics Championships to be held in Doha in September have already asked to use the new facility. Valeria Straneo, Sara Dossena, Giovanna Epis and Eyob Ghebrehiwet Faniel have been in Livigno for a few days now, preparing for upcoming events.
Opening hours are be 7a.m. to 8 p.m. every day of the week until autumn and users will enter through the reception area of Aquagranda. All residents in the province of Sondrio will be able to enjoy free access to the track for this first season, whilst everyone else will pay a €3/day admission or €9/season ticket to use it.
The inauguration will be held on 14th September at Aquagranda, followed by the cutting of the ribbon and a barbecue for all those who run a symbolic lap. There will also be a general rating for the first run, which will also celebrate the top three athletes of Livigno and also the top three athletes on Team Livigno.
