SUNRISE MATTIAS: BREAKFAST AT DAWN WITH THE STARS IN LIVIGNO

Monday, 19th March. This is the third year the event organised by Associazione Mattias will be held. Four Michelin Star chefs are to prepare an exclusive gourmet breakfast at altitude in remembrance of Mattias Peri.

Livigno is getting ready to welcome the third “Sunrise Mattias, in memory of our friend” event in remembrance of Mattias Peri, who became the very first chef in Livigno and Valtellina to receive a Michelin Star in 2009, and passed away unexpectedly in 2015.

Monday, 19th March, four great chefs, all of whom have ties to the mountains, will prepare an exquisite gourmet breakfast in memory of one of the greatest stars of the culinary sector in  the Livigno area. Set in the evocative backdrop of dawn in Livigno, this event must definitely not be missed as Alessandro Negrini (Milan, 2 Michelin Stars), Alessandro Gilmozzi (Cavalese, 1 Michelin Star), Stefano Masanti (Madesimo, 1 Michelin Star) and Giancarlo Morelli (Seregno, 1 Michelin Star) will be taking turns at the stoves.

Those present will include both Claudio Prandi, a pillar in the Valtellina catering sphere and one of the first founders of Associazione Mattias, and Chef Norbert Niederkofler from South Tyrol, who received his third Michelin Star in 2017.

This unique gastronomic event held in the valley, promises to be an extraordinary experience for guests and will bring together Chef Mattias’ great passions, the mountains and cuisine. He expressed these two unconditional loves through innovative dishes created using raw materials from the area, enthusiastically conveying them to the guests who visited him.

The meeting point is the Passo d’Eira carpark (in the Trepalle resort) at 5.45a.m. in order to start the ascent at 6a.m. with skins and snowshoes or on foot. On arrival, yoga teacher Karin Pizzinini will involve all participants in an enjoyable muscle warm up, wrapped in the complete silence which embraces the mountain landscape and which will be even more magical due to the first light of dawn. The gourmet breakfast, consisting of 5 courses which are still a secret, will be served at 7a.m. after a toast in memory of Mattias.

The event is organised by Associazione Mattias, which was created in order to keep the memory and passion of Chef Mattias alive, so his example would be an inspiration for new generations of chefs, and to really help them express and achieve the full potential of their talent.
