AGREEMENT SIGNED WITH THE ITALIAN SWIMMING FEDERATION: THE NEW CENTRE FOR TRAINING AT ALTITUDE WILL BE IN LIVIGNO

The memorandum of intent provides for the establishment of a Federal Centre for training at altitude in Aquagranda, where the athletes of the national team have been completing their training at altitude since 2015. Said agreement anticipates construction of a new 50 metre pool, too

The Italian Swimming Federation is pleased to announce that a memorandum of intent has been signed with the Tourist Board of Livigno to establish a Federal Centre where top athletes can train at altitude at both the Aquagranda complex (with its 25 metre pool) and other sports facilities in the resort of Valtellina.

The agreement also acknowledges that the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN) has priority when it comes to scheduling dates and times for using the aforementioned structures. Said resolution strengthens the relationship between FIN and Livigno which began in 2015. Livigno currently hosts a collegiate group of athletes under 21 from the national team.

FIN President Paolo Barelli declared, “The Federation has been using the pool in Livigno for training at altitude for a number of years now and our successful partnership with the Tourist Board enables us to prepare our swimmers in excellent conditions. This agreement also represents a commitment which aims to sustain construction of a 50 metre pool that would make the Aquagranda complex even more functional for preparing athletes. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the CEO of APT Livigno, Luca Moretti, for his help in this matter and wish everyone, athletes, technical staff and managers alike the very best in their work together”.

Technical director of the national team, Cesare Butini declared. “This is an important, and I’d even go as far as to say fundamental agreement in many respects for the whole Federation. Indeed, it opens up the premiss of being able to have a 50 metre pool in the same resort of Lombardy in a very short space of time. This would mean us not having to look for resorts at altitude in or even outside Europe".

CEO of Livigno Tourist Board Luca Moretti declared, “We are proud to strengthen our working relationship with the Italian Swimming Federation. Besides finding the ideal conditions for completing their competitive training at altitude, over the past few years the athletes of the national team have also found a welcoming home in Livigno, to return to in both summer and winter and train in all tranquillity with with excellent facilities and in a charming alpine setting. Signing this agreement will give a further drive towards development of a project that is very close to our hearts, namely construction of a 50 metre pool inside the sports and wellness centre of Aquagranda. Tourist Board Livigno will do all it can to help and collaborate with FIN to ensure that this soon becomes a reality for swimmers.”
