Less than ten days till the Zero Edition of “Alta Valtellina Skyrunning Experience”
Direction sky for the two-day event powered by Marco De Gasperi & Valtellina Wine Trail which has a sponsorship from a prestigious brand like Scott. The event starts on Saturday 29 with St. Catherine Vertical Race: a different in height of 1000 meters along three kilometers with starting line at the ski slope in front of Centro La Fonte and finish line at 2760 meters in Costa Sobretta. The path runs parallel - but in the opposite direction – to the downhill skiing slope where takes place the Fis World Cup. Athletes of national and international level are attending the event, curious to know features of what is going to become a stage of the World Skyrunner World Series. This should be the ambitious project of ASD Valtellina Wine Trail, which aims to bring the Who’s Who of the international Skyrunning running in the Stelvio National Park along breathtaking paths.
Technical director of St. Catherine Vertical Race is Fabio Meraldi, a big "ex" of this discipline who helped write the history of this sport thanks to many victories and records.
“Finally Alta Valtellina aims to play worldwide an important role in Skyrunning, which is a booming specialties with deep roots in Alta Valtellina. We have mountains and paths that have nothing to envy to any other stage of the World Series”.

The following day, the focus will be on Livigno, which represents the Alpine capital for outdoor sports. Here, in the Little Tibet, will be staged a "test event" by invitation called "Livigno SkyMarathon", a 42km race with over 3000mt of elevation gain. Vertical paths, meadows, rocky ridges and short sections on a height next to 3000mt will alternate with mule tracks and the gravel streets of the valley bottom, exploring one of the most rugged and wild areas of Livigno, namely the Salient Valley on the Swiss border.
“It will be the chance to see if the chosen route requires some changes including the safety aspect” said the technical director Adriano Greco who in the 90’s another big of the Skyrunning races was “ It is an important race test attended by some international athletes with whom we are making a video to promote the next year's race”
