LIVIGNO, SLOPES OPENING 26th NOVEMBER

The countdown to the official opening of the ski slopes has now begun. This weekend’s snowfall turned everything white, extending the cross country ring, which opened in mid-October. The season kicks off with Skipass Free offer, also valid for the 8th December holiday break of the Immaculate Conception.

Livigno’s getting ready for the official start of the winter season, planned for 26th November 2016, and the view is completely white! There are now about 25cm of snow after the recent falls which extended the length of the cross-country ski track that opened mid-October and now covers over 2km.. Last weekend, winner of the Cross-Country World Cup (Sprint) Federico Pellegrino trained on the Livigno ring to prepare for the first of his official competitions.

Thanks to low temperatures, we are able to proceed with snowmaking, covering around 80% of the slopes and 10km of the cross-country ski track. The ski area of Livigno stretches out over 115 km, including slopes for Alpine skiing (1800 to 2900 a.s.l.) totalling 12 black, 37 red and 27 blue ones. The slopes are equipped with 6 cableways (Carosello 3000 I and II; Mottolino, Livigno Centro Tagliede I and II; Cassana), 13 chairlifts and 11 ski lifts. We also have two snowparks one at the Mottolino Fun Mountain, the other at Carosello 3000), several snow playgrounds in different places in Livigno and a kindergarten at the Scuola Sci Centrale (main ski school) which offers a full day ski kindergarten for little skiers. Guests have 150 instructors specialised in teaching a range of disciplines at their disposal. Based in six schools, the instructors teach skiing and snowboarding, as well as cross-country and telemark skiing.

Our cross-country slopes stretch out for 30 km from the centre of Livigno to Forcola and Alpe Vago. Livigno has set up a number of freeride check points to access the slopes in areas of unbeaten tracks. There are ARVA® avalanche detectors at the access points for Val Federia and Vallaccia, at the top of Costaccia and Corosello 3000, and at the top of Monte della Neve in Mottolino. There are also 10 screens providing information both at the main ski lifts and in the village displaying the latest news about the depth of the snow and weather conditions. We also manage two freeride areas, one at the Mottolino Fun Mountain and one at Carosello 3000. Half the 200km2 total surface area of the municipality of Livigno is ideal for freeriding and Alpine skiing.

There are two specific trails for Alpine skiing and two for snowshoe walking, as well as a beaten pathway in the area of Monte Vago.

A new arena will soon be prepared for biathlon, featuring last generation electronic templates that are ideal for professional athletes and enthusiasts, of which there are an increasing number, wishing to train.

Every year, Livigno comes up with new ideas to make things even easier for its guests, with promotions that allow them to save money without having to give up the pleasure of a holiday in the snow. The beginning of the season features our Skipass Free offer from 26th November to 24th December 2016, and again from 15th April to 1st May 2017. During the promotion, anyone staying in one of the structures affiliated with this special offer (hotels for 4 nights and flats for 7 nights), won’t have to pay for a ski pass. In January and March, it’s time for the offer we’ve created especially for families with kids under 12 - our special Family Week Kids Go Free offer. This covers overnight stays in hotels and flats (in the latter case the discount is 15%) for those who take advantage of this special offer, equipment hire, a skipass and ski school.
