Summer in Livigno has kicked off with a multitude of new activities involving sport, wellbeing, good food and a range of events which are ideal for anyone with an active lifestyle who wants to take a holiday in keeping with this idea.
BIKE
The news for 2017 is truly exciting for our bikers as the bikepass is valid from 24th June to 10th September on both the Mottolino and Carosello 3000 installations.
From a daily 37Euro pass (or discounted 26Euro version) to a multi-day one, there will no longer be any limits to heading up the mountain, down to the bikepark and cycling along the many specially marked and mapped out flow trails for MTBs.
Livigno, considered one of the world’s mountain biking capitals, offers routes, structures and services for any kind of biker. Choices range from Mottolino’s 13 downhill and freeride trails, with 3 levels of difficulty for beginners through to more experienced bikers, a jump area and a north shore area with wooden structures, to the 50km of trails split between newly built routes designed specifically for MTB (flow and Enduro) and the preexisting hiking routes of Carosello 3000. In all, there are 3200km of GPS mapped routes for the Bike Tours&Track, where bikers can venture out in the company of expert MTB guides, too, professional instructors for freeriding, downhill riding and both e-bikes and fat-bikes. Moreover, the Bike Pass Free offers will be valid from 10th to 23rd June and16th September to 1st October, allowing visitors to benefit from a complimentary bikepass if they book 3 nights in a hotel or 7 in a flat in one of the establishments adhering to the bike products club.
The Mottolino Fun Mountain installations are already open and will remain so until 1st October, whilst those of the Carosello 3000 Mountain Park are open 24th June through to 10th September.
AQUAGRANDA ACTIVE YOU
Remaining on the subject of active holidays, Aquagranda Active You, the highest wellness and sports centre in Europe, features a rich programme divided into different areas: Slide&Fun (slides and water toys), Wellness&Relax (wellbeing), Fitness&Pool (sport), Health&Beauty (beauty), Bar&Bistrot (refreshments).
The Slide&Fun pool, with slides and fun for the whole family, will be open every day from 12th June to 28th September 10a.m. to 10p.m.. As of 19th June there will also be the Waterfun Kids activity for the entire summer, Sunday to Friday from 4p.m. to 6p.m. with a childcare expert to take care of kids aged 4 to 12.
The Wellness&Relax area, with its saunas and steam rooms will be open every day from 12 noon to 10p.m., from 12th June to 28th September. As of 24th June there will be Aperi-Wellness and Live Music for the entire summer every Saturday as of 6.30p.m. during which visitors can enjoy an aperitif with a twist, as the fee includes a sauna and use of the jacuzzi loungers to relax completely, accompanied by live music.
Fitness&Pool is a paradise for athletes, with a gym and 25m swimming-pool. It is open every day from Monday to Friday, 9a.m. to 10p.m., whilst on Saturdays and Sundays it closes at 8p.m.. The Super Summer Promo is active until 30th June, namely 10 Open admissions which allow visitors to use the gym, 25m swimming-pool and fitness courses at the promotional price of Euro60. Health&Beauty is the ideal place for taking care of your body daily, 8a.m. to 10p.m.. Discover the new face and body treatments of the organic Biocosm product line.
Visitors to this area can do Tabiano thermal water inhalations and use the salt room for halotherapy.
The Bar&Bistrot serves a range of healthy, tasty dishes everyday from 7.30a.m. to 10.30p.m., freshly prepared in the kitchen.
SKYRUNNING
In just a few days time there will be a weekend devoted to skyrunning, that is, a race along the summit of the Little Tibet of Valtellina, during which amateurs and professionals will rise to the challenge for the second year running.
It all kicks off on the 17th June with the Livigno Mini Skyrace, held in il Val Federia, finishing on 18th June with the Livigno Sky Marathon, which will touch on the summit of Cassana, the ridges connecting to Piz di Rin, Madonon or Mont dali Rèsa along a trail of around 34 km with a 2400m ascent. After this skyrunning event, Livigno will welcome runners for the 18th Stralivigno, a half-marathon in the mountains open to amateurs and professional athletes scheduled for 22nd July.
THE GOURMET’S TRAIL
Enrolment is open for the second Sentiero Gourmet (The Gourmet’s Trail) for lovers of cooking and good food, an unforgettable experience organised by Livigno’s Gruppo Cuochi e Pasticceri (Group of Chefs and Pastry Chefs) where nature and flavour merge to create a perfect match. This appointment has been scheduled for Thursday, 13th July 2017 in the stunning backdrop of Alpe Vago. Participants will set off on an easily walkable trail of around 5km completely immersed in the woods, along which there will be 6 breaks for tasting, until they reach the little church of San Cristoforo.
Chefs and pastry chefs will offer participants the opportunity to experience and savour a number of delicacies, not only through taste but rather all five senses, offering combinations which have been carefully studied and then prepared using highly sought-after products. This is not any old gala dinner, but rather a completely new scenario where originality and involvement are necessary to present participants not only with delicacies to taste, but sensations to remember and, why not, to talk about for years to come.
The itinerary will begin at 7.30p.m. near Alpe Vago, where those taking part, split into groups of 25 and accompanied by Livigno’s Gruppo Folcloristico e Costumi Caratteristici di Livigno (Folklore and Characteristic Costumes Group), will be guided to themed areas to enjoy various different kinds of gourmet finger food, excellence in the culinary tradition of Valtellina and Italy, enveloped in the warmth of the fire and special nighttime atmosphere.
The participation fee is 70Euro and 200 people will be able to take part.
