LIVIGNO, THE HIGHEST GOLF TRAINING AREA IN EUROPE WITH MAURIZIO GUERISOLI

The highest synthetic golf training area is in Livigno, at 1,850 meters above sea level covering an area of 10,000 square meters  between the green fields and the larch forests. The Golf Training Area was inaugurated last year and consists in a pitch and putt area, a driving range of 250 meters and 3 green, each reached by three different tees. Who wants to practice golf in Livigno can enjoy the special offers that include accommodation in an Active Hotel and golf clinic with intensive lessons to improve the short game. Furthermore every week ( on Tuesday and Thursday) you can take golf lessons or book your golf learning course ( 8 or 16 hours).

During these days Marco Guerisoli received a visit from his father Maurizio in Livigno, who is a former professional golfer and trainer. Here are his first impressions after playing in the Golf Training Area of ​​The Little Tibet:

What is your experience with golf?

"I’m a professional golfer since 1980. I've played on the European Tour and I was the Italian National coach and nowadays I’m a member of the teaching master club at the Golf Club Le Betulle in Biella, where I founded in 1985 the Guerisoli Golf School. I coach emerging players and professional golfer"

How did you find the Golf Training Area in Livigno?

“it is a simple but very functional training area, with a well-finished approach area and a very technical putting green. The assessment is very positive”

You had the fortune to play in the best golf courses worldwide. What is the difference between a natural grass and synthetic turf?

"Basically the synthetic green is very similar to the Links green course. If the ball is well hit, it stops in a short distance and you can make a beautiful putts. It is no coincidence that the best players in the world have synthetic greens at home to train. "

Our course is built on an area with different gradients, did you find it particularly unusual?

“no…I found it really enjoyable and I hope that the area is going to be increased"

Do you have some advices to improve it?

“you definitely need some services, which I know, are already going to be available, such as the covering of the driving range and a slightly lower cut of the green areas”

Until recently Golf was seen just as an elite sport only for a certain social class. Is it still the case?

"No ... Today golf  has grown a lot, for example it has become an extra school activity of many educational institutes. It seems to be a very healthy and educational sport and nowadays the market makes it possible to get the good equipment at low cost. The expansion of the driving range also offer the opportunity to train without having to go to a Golf Club”

What advice can you give to someone who want to start playing golf?

“The key thing is to put yourself in the hands of a PGAI instructor building the foundations that are very important. Furthermore you have to arm yourself with patience and tenacity because the results do not come easily…”

Do you like Livigno?

"There are no adjectives to describe it ...it is simply fantastic. For me it was the first time in Livigno and I fell in love with him immediately: wonderful valleys, people are friendly and hospitable and the position of the training area is excellent! My Golf School and my soon Marco are going to help you as much as possible by increasing the Golf experience here in Livigno. I’m sure that you have the necessary potential to further increase the summer tourism”
