LIVIGNO, TOMORROW OPEN THE CROSS COUNTRY TRACK

Everything is ready for the opening of the first ring of cross-country track, which will host many National Teams and Nordic skiing enthusiasts. The ring has been created using the snow of last winter, preserved in the summer thanks to the snowfarming. The access and use of to the track is completely free.

From tomorrow, 20th October 2016, the cross-country skiers can put their skis on feet in Livigno. It is ready a ring of about 700mt of length in the central plains of the town, near the Nordic Ski Centre, realized with the snow conserved during the summer thanks to the technique of snowfarming. This procedure allows to store during the summer period the winter snow, accumulated and covered with a layer of sawdust and with a special geothermal cloth that reflects sunlight and maintains the temperature of the snow.

The ring on natural snow in Livigno, at an altitude of 1816 meters, is a strong call for National Teams and athletes seeking the preparation outside the context of the glaciers and, in this sense, Livigno stands as one of the few locations European able to guarantee it.

Many athletes are expected, professionals and amateurs, and many fans who will be able to ski together with the great champions and experience the latest innovations offered by the market in terms of equipment.

From tomorrow onwards, the winter season will grow, until the 26th November with the traditional opening of the ski lifts and slopes. The Fil rouge of the winter season in Livigno is the sports: from alpine skiing to telemark, from snowboarding to freeride, from cross country skiing to biathlon, from snowshoeing to fat bike, from alpine skiing to paragliding, from ice skating to horseback excursions or by foot on the groomed tracks. And in this context, the cross country skiing is the undisputed star of the start of the season.

On the 3rd December 2016 will be the turn of the first big winter sports event, the Sgambeda cross country skiing race. At the start there will be thousands of skiers for the first marathon race of the international season. The Sgambeda race, which was also refreshed thanks to the new logo, is part of the prestigious circuit Visma Ski Classics that contains 13 classics around the world including the Vasaloppet and Marcialonga. For the cross-country skiers who will participate to the Sgambeda, has been prepared a holiday package valid in the period from the 26th November to the 4th December  2016, which includes the accommodation in a hotel or apartment, the registration at the race Sgambeda, and the entrance at the area "Fitness & Pool" in Aquagranda Active You. The 2017 TOUR Transalp powered by Sigma is going to display a firework of mountain pass roads and panorama views for the 15th time in history next summer again. From June 25th  till July 1st and true to the motto “old meets new”, the route will lead the participating teams of two over 850 kilometres as well as some 18,500 metres of climbing and from Sonthofen (GER) via Imst (AUT), Naturns (AUT), Bormio (ITA), Livigno (ITA), Aprica (ITA) and Val di Ledro (ITA) to Arco (ITA), which is located close to Lake Garda.
