LIVIGNO WINS PRESTIGIOUS LONDON AWARD

Snowsure Livigno in the Italian Alps, wins prestigous Ski Club of Great Britain award.

High altitude, snow sure Livigno – which enjoys one of the longest ski seasons in the Alps – has recently won third place in the prestigous annual consumer survey conducted by the Ski Club of Great Britain. The answers from 13,000 respondents, using the Net Promoter Score (NPS) system catapulted Livigno onto the podium ahead of many other internationally famous European ski resorts.

Frank McCusker, CEO of Ski Club of Great Britain said:

“Congratulations to Livigno for their 3rd place in the European Resort Highly recommended category. It’s great to see them performing so well. Our Ski Club consumer research takes into the account the views of over 13,000 skiers and snowboarders so this customer feedback places them in good stead for the upcoming season.”

Sharing a national border with the Swiss region of Graubuenden, Livigno nestles in a long broad valley in Italy's mountain province of Sondrio. Known by locals as Little Tibet, the village and its snow covered mountains are steeped in the tradition of wintersports and warm hospitality.

British skiers discovered Livigno in the early seventies and it soon became one of the most popular ski resorts, but tastes changed and over time it lost some of its appeal. Livigno's emphatic response has been to make major improvements in its infrastructure, including the addition of several ski lifts close to hotels and apartments, greatly extending the ski-in, ski-out offering, coupled with a more frequent and upgraded free bus service for the village and all ski lifts. A new 'freeskiing' area, excellent snowparks and a low cost heli-skiing operation have all been added to the 'new look' Livigno.

The bustling village centre has retained its rustic charm with a mix of lodging, shops, restaurants, nightlife and bars. It is said that Livigno has more bars – about 150 – than any other European ski resort and one of them even offers its customers their first drink free of charge! Famous for its duty free status, the resort boasts over 250 shops, many selling duty free alcohol, tobacco and perfumes, with many more selling famous brands such as Benetton, Timberland and Max Mara at tax free prices. As an example of the duty free savings on offer, a litre bottle of Gordon's Gin costs just over £5 in Livigno!

Most importantly, the ski season is long and snow sure. With a ski range of 3,000 m. to 1,800 m. and with its own micro-climate, year after year Livigno opens for business in late November and doesn't close until early May, when skiers and snowboarders can still ski from top to bottom.
