POWDER MANIA IN LIVIGNO

Marked ski slopes left ungroomed and with fresh snow after each significant snowfall:  it is a new attraction for all fans of freeriding at Carosello 3000 Livigno.

Livigno becomes increasingly a freeride destination. And during the latest snowfalls Carosello 3000 have inaugurated the French-inspired ski runs: Powder Slopes - Double Black. What are the characteristics of these slopes? After every significant snowfall one or more ski slopes are left ungroomed for a single night.  As a result, skiers have to jump at the chance of skiing on the wide slopes covered with fresh powder because the ski runs remain in such conditions only for a day.

The Powder Slopes are marked with the entrance signs - Double Black - just to highlight the nature of the slopes dedicated to expert skiers. But they are also arranged so as to be safely avoided by skiers who want to ski only on the groomed ski slopes. Unlike the backcountry areas, these slopes are very close to the ski lifts, delimited on either side by normal boundary signs and also easily accessible by ski patrollers in case of accidents.

Camillo Bertolini, marketing director of Carosello 3000: Undoubtedly freeride skiing has been the trend in recent years and a modern winter resort can only look with interest to this sport activity. The consequence is the creation of more and better services, but also the planning of products from the prospective of safety. The Powder Slopes give to all skiers the possibility to try off-piste skiing. Those who wish it can approach freeriding and others can just enjoy skiing in fresh snow in the patrolled and safe areas.

Due to the unpredictability of snowfalls (also notified via email or mobile app through the Powder Alert Notification Service) and their pop-up nature, Powder Slopes cannot be planned in advance but each time they  will be notified by Carosello 3000 through its social channels.

The initiative is part of the project "Livigno Feel The Powder", coordinated by APT (Livigno Tourist Office) in collaboration with Alpsolut. It is a multi-year project including a careful study of the territory, the providing of a daily avalanche bulletin for the resort, the installation of check-points for the testing of the proper functioning of avalanche transceivers, the increased number of freeride excursions with Alpine Guides of Livigno, and the launch of the heli-skiing service.

The Powder Slopes are not the only news regarding freeriding at Carosello 3000. The Ski Reload Experience has also been started recently: one or two days of skiing (for two hours a day) to spend in the company of the ski instructor and well-known freerider Davide Cusini, who encourages and charge with motivation those who do not feel confident enough to leave the marked ski slopes.
