ALPINE EXCELLENCE FOR ALTITUDE TRAINING IS CALLED LIVIGNO

Sport at altitude is one of the activities experts recommend for strengthening muscles and improving an athlete’s performance. For this reason, a huge number choose Livigno for training at altitude, owing to the services it offers and also its special facilities such as the Aquagranda Active You! complex.

Sport in the great outdoors has always been a healthy choice for both body and mind and there are numerous activities on offer out and about in Livigno. Little Tibet, as this area is also known, is a real open air gym located at 1816 metres a.s.l. where visitors can breathe in the pure, fresh air which is so beneficial for their health. The structure of the area of Livigno, it being a plateau in the very heart of the Italian Alps, provides for gradual slopes, meaning it is a suitable altitude for all ages and all kinds of preparation, including anyone who is just a beginner in terms of sport.

In more detail, altitude training acts on how oxygen is transported around the body, therefore the reflexes of an athlete’s movements and his or her performance. It provides ideal training both for those kinds of sport which require a constant, aerobic activity and anyone wishing to develop their physical resistance. To date, all-inclusive sports training comprises several different stages, which differ according to the sport being practiced and the level of athletic performance a person wishes to either reach or maintain.

A large number of services and facilities have been devised for sports people in Little Tibet, such as the Aquagranda Active You! complex with 10,000m2 devoted specifically to living well. The Fitness&Pool area stands out in terms of sport with a 25 metre, semi-olympic swimming-pool built with Myrtha technology and a 350m2 fitness room. They are much appreciated by both visitors and professional athletes from the Italian National swimming Federation FIN (Federazione Italiana Nuoto) alike. Indeed, after having trained in Livigno they brought home several victories last season during the Glasgow 2018 European Championships, amongst which three gold medals won by swimmer Simona Quadrella and another gold, this time for the 100m freestyle, won by Alessandro Miressi.

Livigno has become a “must do” stop for a number of national federations for preparing their athletes. This year too, many sectorial professionals will be busy here and the following athletes are currently in Livigno until 13th October 2018: Gregorio Paltrinieri, Gabriele Detti, Domenico Acerenza, Mattia Zuin, Alessio Proietti, Filippo Megli, Michele Ciampi, Stefano Di Cola, Fabio Lombini, Ilaria Cusinato and Sara Franceschi. The following will be here until the 20th October 2018: Luca Dotto, Santo Condorelli, Ivano Vendrame, Alessandro Miressi, Lorenzo Zazzeri, Nicolò Martinenghi, Devid Zorzetto and Manuel Frigo. Then in late autumn there will be stars of the national team such as Federica Pellegrini, Carlotta Zofkova, Simone Sabbioni, Luca Pizzini, Aglaia Pezzato, Simona Quadarella, Carlotta Toni, Piero Codia and Margherita Panziera who will train in Livigno from 14th October to 3rd November.
