The first edition of Livigno Sky Marathon (34.5 km with 2700m of elevation gain) and Livigno Trail (17.0 km with 1000 m of elevation gain) have brought great enthusiasm in this Valtellina resort, which now focuses on high altitude running. The Mountain Park Carosello 3000 will propose the Running Days with trail running tours in the company of a local guide throughout the summer opening of the lifts (Monday and Saturday).
The first outing will be on Saturday, July 9 with the meeting point at the valley station of the gondola Carosello 3000 in San Rocco zone (9.30 a.m.) which will be used to reach the top. From there, after a half an hour stretching and warm-up, the mountain running enthusiasts can run between Earth and sky on the trails that wind along the mountain ridges and cross incredible view-points over the Alpine valleys. The cost of the tour is 15 € and includes guide and wristband for the access to the gondola lifts. Carosello 3000, in order to make easier the use of the trails, has recently published a Trail Guidebook which you can download for free on the website of the Mountain Park. A real guide to running routes with a total of 75 km (4150m EG) of mapped trails, divided into six unique itineraries according to the type of training and technical level. And all these at an altitude above 2000 m. The guidebook also contains the coach's tips on how to run at the right pace so to achieve your goal, and different training schedules depending on how long you stay in Livigno. Finally, there are QR codes with GPS tracking of the trails, downloadable directly on your smartphone.
