The first part of the summer season in Livigno has ended, during which many of the champions involved in these weeks in the most anticipated events of the four-year period, have chosen to reach the Valtellina resort, to make the most of its facilities and to take advantage of all the benefits of altitude training.
While the protagonists of the triathlon are busy on the competitions, the summer in Livigno doesn't stop, hosting in its valleys four great protagonists of the world triathlon, who are completing their training on the roads of Little Tibet.
First of all, of course, there is the "local" athlete, Giulio Molinari, adopted son of the town, who is completing the preparation in view of the Ironman in Copenhagen, scheduled for August 22nd, for which he has important ambitions. For Giulio, Livigno now has no secrets, and the relationship between the athlete, a native of Novara, and the town is stronger than ever.
While running, or pedaling, along the trails of the town, Molinari could also meet Sebastian Kienle, winner of the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in 2012 and 2013, and winner of the Ironman World Championships in 2014. That of the German is one of the best-known names on the entire world scene, and for several years the champion, born in 1984, has chosen to spend three weeks a year in Livigno, conquered by the facilities available for indoor and outdoor training, and also from the exquisite hospitality.
In addition to them, the German Frederic Funk, a rising star of the discipline, who has just graduated European middle distance triathlon champion, will also be present in Livigno; and the Slovenian Davide Plese, a Red Bull athlete and already an habitué of Livigno.
Moreover we welcomed in Livigno four Italian volleyball players from the Top league. Vittoria Piani, Giulia Melli, Benedetta Marconi and Ilenia Moro are divided between the gym and the wellness area of the Aquagranda, thus alternating training with relaxation and shopping. It was a pleasant surprise for them to also find the beach volleyball court, where they just couldn't resist taking a couple of volleyball services.
Livigno is therefore confirmed as the favorite choice of the great Italian and international sports, who come to our town to better prepare for the great seasonal events, or to enjoy the unique mix of sport, health and entertainment that it offers its guests.
