Among the many protagonists at the start, great expectations for the
Polish champion Justyna Kowalczyk, four times World Cup winner, eight-time world medallist and five-time Olympic podium finisher, including titles in the 30 km in Vancouver 2010, and in the 10 km in Soci 2014. A prestigious signature of cross-country skiing at the beginning of the millennium, who will raise the level of competition for all participants. Participants will include
Marianna Longa, a much-loved home athlete and a great opponent of Kowalczyk in some editions of the Games and World Championships in her speciality.
The starters will find a track in perfect conditions waiting for them, which, thanks to the snowfall of the last few days and the incessant work of the track officials, promises to offer spectacle and breathtaking views.
The geographic uniqueness of Livigno and the clement weather will allow the race to take place on a single ring, for
30 kilometres of absolute wonder and continuous discovery of the landscape and sport. A route that will reach its climax at the halfway mark in the "Vago" area: an immaculate location completely immersed in the unspoilt nature of the valley.
Bibs will be handed out in Plaza Placheda on Saturday 17 December, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on 7 p.m. and for Sunday 18, from 8 a.m. until one hour before the start of the race, scheduled for 11 a.m. The prize-giving ceremony and pasta party for all participants will also be held in Plaza Placheda. In addition, all starters will receive a special race pack containing a ProAction supplement, some Acqua Frisia, some Pasta Felicetti, a voucher to access Aquagranda and a personalised collector's gadget.
On Saturday, instead, is scheduled the
Mini Sgambeda, dedicated to the youth categories, from U10 to U18, which will start from the Cross-Country Stadium, starting at 1.00 pm. Also in 2022, the Sgambeda, which has always been the perfect meeting point between competitive and amateur sport, confirms itself as an unmissable appointment for all lovers of the discipline and of open-air activities: the ideal occasion to experience the best of Livigno's culture and tradition.
