Federico Pellegrino and Federica Pellegrini now have something else in common besides the similarity of their names. The stars of sport are gathering in Livigno; this proves that the "Little Tibet" is the favourite destination for every athlete. In the town in the province of Sondrio the athletes get in shape also thanks to the "altitude training", a special training loved by athletes, who train at high altitude and make up for the lack of oxygen by altering their muscle metabolism and gaining a competitive advantage.

The national swimming team arrives with the "divine" Federica Pellegrini, Olympic gold medallist and world-class specialist in the 200m and 400m freestyle, who is determined to continue her extraordinary career until Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Then there are the reigning Olympic and world champion of the 1500 metres freestyle Gregorio Paltrinieri, the reigning middle-distance world champion of the 800 metres freestyle Gabriele Detti, the specialist of short distances Luca Dotto, the backstroke swimmers Carlotta Zofkovaand Simone SabbioniLuca Pizzini from Verona, Carlotta ToniPiero CodiaAglaia Pezzato, and the protagonists of the European Championships in Glasgow 2018 Simona Quadarella and Margherita Panziera. The athletes will mainly train in the sports center Aquagranda Active You that from next summer will also offer an athletic track in order to complete the sports offer of Livigno.

From swimming to cross-country skiing with Norway’s star Petter Northug, two Olympic gold medals and thirteen world gold medals, one of the most beloved but also most talked about champions of cross-country skiing, who will be in Livigno with the sprinters Sindre Bjørnestad Skar and Pål Golberg. The Finnish cross-country skier Iivo Niskanen, Olympic champion in the 50 km of Pyeongchang, arrived a few days before the the Italian national team (from 19th to 28th October). The Italian team is led by the wolrd-class athlete Federico Pellegrino, world champion in the sprint at Lahti 2017, winner of a World Cup sprint and an Olympic silver medal. Together with "Chicco" there will beDietmar NoecklerFrancesco De Fabiani from the Aosta Valley, Maicol RastelliMirco Bertolina, Elisa Brocard, Ilaria Debertolis, Lucia Scardoni, Greta Laurent, Giandomenico Salvadori, Stefan Zelger, Caterina Ganz, Anna Comarella and Sara Pellegrini.

On Saturday December 1st – between the two races – there will be the "Sgambeda", a race in free technique only for amateurs.

Livigno is therefore a favourite destination for athletes. Whether it is water or snow, the "Little Tibet" offers the best conditions to get in shape for the season; that is also confirmed by the best Italian result at the Ironman in Hawaii, obtained last weekend by an athlete of the Livigno Team, Giulio Molinari, who was able to finish the world championship race in 8h21'52", thus getting the best time ever for an Italian athlete in the race in Hawaii.
