LIVIGNO, CHAMPIONS CONTENDING IN THE AUGUST CHALLENGES HELD ON REAL SNOW

On the 25th August, a cross-country skiing trail will be created along roads which are usually dedicated to shopping for the traditional Trofeo delle Contrade - 1K Shot trophy. Dorothea Wierere and Federico Pellegrino will also be taking part.

Our cross-country ski show in the heart of summer is back this year too as the Trofeo delle Contrade - 1K Shot trophy will be held on 25th August. The starting point for this 2km approx. circuit is the very heart of Livigno, along roads usually reserved for shopping, and the real snow stored during winter using the snow-farming technique will be laid along them.

The Trofeo delle Contrade has been held 37 times already and people of all ages from the area have competed fiercely to defend their colours. Over the past couple of years, the traditional event (in which participants use period equipment) has been flanked by an out and out sports show. This year too, cross-country skiing athletes of both national and international fame will be taking part in the 1K Shot competition as well as in the biathlon, captained by Dorothea Wierer, the biathlon champion who has chosen Livigno to train at altitude. “Azzurri” Federico Pellegrino, Dietmar Noeckler, Greta Laurent, Vuerich, Windisch and De Fabiani will also be there. Saverio Zini, Paolo Rodigari, Vittoria Zini and Thomas Bormolini will also be competing to defend the Team Livigno colours.

So Livigno will not give up its role of winter resort, even in summer, attempting to convey to guests its passion and love of those sports connected to the world of snow. Cross-country in particular is the main sports discipline Little Tibet, as this area is also known, in Valtellina heads in autumn, when many of the national teams seek out Livigno’s 1816m altitude to train.
