Livigno – Christmas markets opened from 29 November over Christmas Holiday up to January

Throughout  the Advent period in the village of wooden houses you can find handmade gift ideas .Wooden objects are among the most popular. A lot of events have been planned in Via Fontana and on the Plaza Mottini, where Santa Claus and Saint Lucia will arrive.

The typical Alpine tradition of Christmas markets lives again in Livigno, where every year a village of wooden houses is set up near the square of Chiesa Santa Maria Nascente, at the entrance of the pedestrian zone. The official opening will be on 29th of  November and the Christmas markets  are going to be open throughout  the Advent period in different ways  and timetables (details below). At the Livigno’s Christmas market you can find jewelry, New Year talismans, essences and magical herbs, wooden items to use like Christmas ornaments but also hand tools and furnishings. There will also be the traditional Valtellina’s Pezzoti  (carpets) , wooden statues of the nativity scene. Santa Claus will offer you roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, apple pancakes and sweets, like the Bisciola,  from all over the Valtellina.

In addition to the Christmas markets, various initiatives are scheduled along suggestive places of Livigno.  On December 7, 21 and 30 from 17.00 to 20.00 Via Fontana will celebrate  together with Santa Claus. He will offer to the pedestrians tea, chocolate, mulled wine, crepes, hot pancakes, cakes and  spectacular surprises. It starts on December 7 with the music of Zampogna and Ciaramella, while on 21 will be the turn of the "Night Shopping", during which the shops will be opened from 21.00 to 23.00. The Live Nativity Scene will be performed at 20.30 followed by the parade of the "Folk Group" children.  December 30 will become from 17.30 up to 18.30 the “Fire day” with  spectacles of fire.

Santa will arrive in Plaza Mottini on December 6 and 26, while on December 12 will be the turn of Saint Lucia to the delight of children from 19.30 to 21.00. The Pipers are going to play on 20 and 28 December. On January 9, the vintage cars will parade along Livigno’s streets .
