Schwalbe Tour Transalp a Livigno

This coming Sunday 1,100 participants start at 10:00 a.m. to the 13th edition of the Schwalbe TOUR Transalp powered by Sigma. Until the 04. July 2015 the participants start in seven daily stages from the German starting point Sonthofen over 886.12 km, 19,152 total altitude meters and 21 alpine passes to italian Arco, close to Lake Garda. Participants from 28 nations are at this year ́s start. They come among others from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Benelux countries, the UK, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland as well as Canada, USA, Australia and Africa. Accompanying the roadbike magazine TOUR creates at www.strava.com/clubs/TOURTransalp a new online meeting place for all participants and fans of the Tour Transalp.

The mix of track and landscape experience as well as sporting challenges are also in 2015 a focus of the Tour Transalp. In teams of two the participants start at 28 June 2015 from Sonthofen in the German Allgäu. In seven daily stages, the route leads to the Austrian Imst, Davos in Switzerland and from there via the italian Livigno through Lombardy to South Tyrol. About the stage destinations Aprica, Caldaro and Trento this year's course leads to the finish in Arco near Lake Garda.

The highlight will be the route to the fourth stage from Livigno to Aprica: five alpine passes on 142,86 kilometers and 3,475 altitude meters the participants have to deal with. Among them are the Passo Gavia, with 2,621 meters above sea level the highest pass of this year's Tour, and the dreaded Passo Mortirolo, who will be really challenging for the participants with its short steep climbs. At the conclusion of this stage race director Marc Schneider has again devised something special, because the finish in Aprica is located on the 1,175-meter high Passo di Guspessa.

Who would like to share the fascination Transalp and still could not get one of the limited starting places, the cycling magazine TOUR provides the chance to join the fan club of Europes most spectacular alpine crossing for cyclists:
