More than a thousand cubic meters of snow preserved since last winter thanks to the technique of snowfarming, sprinkled on a track of 1 km in the center of Livigno. Cross-country skiers six hundred inhabitants of Livigno, with clothes and equipment of the past, the Italian National cross-country skiing and biathlon, Austrian and Norwegian athletes have given show in the evening of Livigno dedicated to 36th edition of the Trofeo delle Contrade with the first 1KShot.
A show with a taste of snow, who mixed tradition with the sport at the highest level and introduced the winter season, which will start in Livigno in the autumn.
Via Plan, very classical for shopping in the duty free area of the Little Tibet of Valtellina, became for one evening a cross-country ski track. The Trofeo delle Contrade, in its last two editions took place in the summer, while historically was played in March.
The show alternated with the moments of the race, those of the challenge of the inhabitants divided into eight districts: Trepalle, Comunin Pemont, Saroch, Teola, Centro, Ostaria, Forcola and Plan da Sora (the queen is Ostaria with 13 wins).
Competing in the 1KShot for cross-country skiing there were Gaia Vuerich, Greta Laurent, Ilaria Debertolis, Lucia Scardoni, Virginia De Martin and Alice Topranin Canclini (CS Army) and Federico Pellegrino, Francesco De Fabiani, Dietmar Noeckler, Maicol Rastelli, Giandomenico Salvadori, Simen Andreas Sveen (Nor), Dominik Baldauf (Aut), Tobias Habenicht (Aut).
For biathlon: Dorothea Wierer, Federica Sanfilippo and Dominik Windish, Thomas Bormolini, Saverio Zini, Paolo Rodigari (Junior Team), Emil Bormetti (Junior Team), Rudy Zini.
Many tourists and the inhabitants of Livigno who watched the Trofeo delle Contrade crowded along the track, from the balconies, the windows of houses and hotels on a clear evening sky. The finals, which are played at 22.00 saw the triumph of Federico Pellegrino and Gaia Vuerich in cross country, Dorothea Wierer and Saverio Zini (athlete of Livigno) in biathlon.
The challenge of the inhabitants continued throughout the late evening and the last competitor has finished around midnight. It won for the 14th time with the best time (1:28:58) Morris Galli, second Riccardo Cantoni and third Emil Bormetti. For women wins Vittoria Zini in 1:49:50 ahead of Emma Sensoli and Valentina Cusini, fourth place for Marianna Longa. The oldest competitor was Domenico Bormolini (84 years). For the name of the winner district, it was not until the overall processing time.
The awards were introduced by Vittorio Brumotti, ambassador of Livigno, who presented a charity auction for the earthquake victims, giving away a weekend in Livigno with him to discover the secrets of the two wheels. The proceeds will be devolved to those affected by the earthquake of August 24.
