Elia Viviani, Davide Formolo, the women's national cycling team and Italnuoto: Livigno is a crucial stage in view of the next Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.

The resort has been chosen by the Italian cyclists and swimmers for the last adjustments before the assault on the Olympic medals, starting on July 23rd.

Before turning the attention to the preparations for the Winter Games of Milan Cortina 2026, that will see the country as protagonist of the five circles experience, Livigno and the champions of the Italian sport turn their eyes towards the East, when we are just a few days away from the opening ceremony of the Japanese Olympics.

Just in view of the most important appointment of the season, many Italian athletes have chosen to take advantage of the altitude of the Valtellina resort, ideal to improve their preparation and to recover from the fatigue of the last commitments.

Elia Viviani has decided to spend a period of relax and training in the structures and on the roads of the Small Tibet, in a perfect climate to reconcile body and mind after the efforts of the Giro d'Italia just ended.

For the Verona born, now a Livigno person of adoption, this last block of work before flying to Tokyo will be decisive. The athlete, also chosen as the standard-bearer of the Italian expedition together with Jessica Rossi, is the reigning Olympic champion of the omnium and will defend the title until the last pedal stroke even in Japan.

His goal is certainly to replicate the triumph of Rio 2016, built even on that occasion with the support of the hairpin bends of Livigno.

Hairpin bends that in the last days have contributed to define at best the state of shape of Davide Formolo and of the blue women of cycling, arrived in the valley after the convocation of the coordinator of the national teams Davide Cassani and of the CT Edoardo Savoldi.

In addition to Letizia Paternoster, now at home in Livigno, there were also other top athletes such as Martina Fidanza and Elisa Balsamo.

Not only cycling, however, since also the Italnuoto is back in Alta Valtellina. The Azzurri, now at home in the Aquagranda pool, return from a European Championship of the highest level and are ready to finalize, with an ad hoc program, the last stages of the most anticipated season of the last 5 years. They are part of the Livigno expedition: the 3-time European gold medalist Simona Quadarella, the vice European champion of the 200 butterfly Federico Burdisso and the double bronze medalist of Rio 2016 Gabriele Detti.

Mention also for the star of short track and Italian flag bearer at Pyeongchang 2018, Arianna Fontana, who came to Valtellina for a dry phase of athletic preparation in the company of the Hungarian national team, confirming the sports vocation of the resort 365 days a year.

A very hot month of June at the top of the Valley, with the Italian champions choosing Livigno as a place of recovery and as a springboard towards the next Olympic medals.
