LIVIGNO HOSTS THE AC MILAN WOMEN'S TEAM

In the summer training camp in Livigno, the AC Milan women's first team continues its work without stopping, still without the girls committed with the national teams at the European Championship, but with the squad well defined.

Piccolo Tibet has always been recognised as an open-air gym, located 1,816 metres above sea level: a favourite destination for all professionals - but also amateurs - who want to strengthen their muscles and increase their athletic performance, thanks both to the conformation of the Livigno area and the dedicated services and facilities.

Until 29 July, Livigno will host the women's first team of AC Milan, who will spend their summer training camp in the Valtellina resort. Among the new girls, only the Swedish Kosovare Asllani is missing, while Kamila and Michaela Dubcová, Angelica Soffia, Silvia Rubio Avila, Gosia Mesjasz, Valery Vigilucci, Noémie Carage and Marta Mascarello have started training. A market that on the one hand wanted to strengthen the team and on the other give continuity to an already solid group with the renewals of Laura Fusetti, Linda Tucceri Cimini, Christy Grimshaw and especially captain Valentina Bergamaschi, as well as the extensions of Selena Babb, Gudny Arnadottir and Noemi Fedele until 2024.

Laura Fusetti - in her fifth season in the Rossoneri - and Christy Grimshaw - who will wear the number 11 shirt for the third year running - were the protagonists of the press conference held yesterday afternoon at 6pm at the Aquagranda Sports Centre, a facility appreciated by the athletes: the Fitness&Pool area is in fact composed of a 25-metre semi-Olympic swimming pool, built with Myrtha technology, and a 350m2 fitness room. The AC Milan women's team also chose Aquagranda as the place to train the Rossoneri girls.

During the meeting with the media, where the trainer Maurizio Ganz, Elisabet Spina (Head of Women Football AC Milan), Angelo Carbone (Youth Sector Director AC Milan), Mauro Tavola (Partnership Director AC Milan), the mayor of Livigno Remo Galli and Luca Moretti (President and CEO of the APT Livigno) were present, the partnership between the well-known tourist resort and the Rossoneri club for the pre-season preparation was told.

"We are pleased to host the women's First Team of AC Milan, who chose the Piccolo Tibet as destination for their summer training. Livigno has always confirmed itself as an international tourist destination that combines leisure and sport, including professional sports: over the years, we have chosen to invest in facilities and services dedicated to sport because we strongly believe in the importance of sporting activity, which will be even more satisfying when surrounded by the wonderful nature of the Italian Alps that embrace our town," said Remo Galli, Mayor of Livigno.

"We are very happy to have chosen Livigno as the venue for the summer training camp for our women's first team. The preparation is going very well thanks also to the facilities that have been made available to us and that allow us to train in a truly splendid setting. The girls have the chance to work surrounded by nature, in a pearl of our region. Local culture, nature, sport, food and wine... We have combined different aspects for an extraordinary experience and certainly functional for our needs," said Elisabet Spina, Head of Women Football AC Milan.

"Having fields, facilities, and equipment suitable for our type of training was fundamental, and I thank the entire community of Livigno for their welcome and hospitality: they made us feel at home, an integral part of the territory. In addition, training in such a well-equipped mountain resort facilitated our work and that of the girls, who were certainly able to better manage the first loads away from the torrid heat of the city," concluded Maurizio Ganz, the team's coach.

During yesterday morning, the rossonere were able to enjoy their free day discovering the wide offer of Livigno: after a short hike in one of the paths of the surrounding valleys, the athletes walked along the streets of the pedestrian centre, with more than 250 fashion shops for a glamour & slow shopping experience, shops of local artisans but also bars and restaurants where to taste the typical dishes of the Valtellinese tradition.

On 28 July, at the end of the training session scheduled at 5.30 p.m. at the Aquagranda Sports Centre, the Rossoneri women's first team will be available to all residents, tourists and fans for a meet & greet, during which it will be necessary to wear a mask. A collective meeting that testifies to the desire to be an integral part of the territory.
Training will end on Friday 29 July, when the team will return to Milan. The summer preparation will continue with two friendly matches scheduled for the following days: on 30 July at the Vismara against Como, a newly-promoted team, and on 7 August at 17:30 in Bogliasco against Sampdoria.
On 12 August, instead, with the full squad, the women's team will leave for the United States, heading to Louisville (Kentucky) for the Women's Cup, an international tournament in which the home team Racing Louisville FC, OL Reign, Tottenham Hotspur, Club America and Tokyo Verdy Beleza will participate. This will be the last appointment before the start of the championship scheduled for the weekend of 27/28 August.
