MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL AND NOS3000: A THREE DAY EVENT DEDICATED TO THE ITALIAN ALPS SURROUNDING LIVIGNO

From Friday 6th to Sunday 8th September, Little Tibet will pay tribute to the mountains with a whole host of events open to everyone, as indeed our mountains are.

At 1816m a.s.l., Livigno is undoubtedly a privileged starting point for professionals and amateurs who want to reach the peaks and summits of the Italian Alps surrounding Little Tibet. Of these, as many as 22 reach a height of over 3000 metres and 10 of them have always been considered those which best represent Livigno, namely Monte Vago, Piz da Rin, Cima Fopel, Piz Cotschen, Cima Cavalli, Monte Breva, Piz Paradisin, Corno di Capra, Pizzo Filone and Monte Garrone.

The Mountain Festival will be held in Livigno on Friday 6th, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September in order to pay tribute to the beauty of the landscape that embraces Tibet. It is a long weekend dedicated entirely to the landscape of the mountains and, more specifically, to that which has always excited both the people of Livigno and our visitors.

The event will begin during the afternoon of Friday 6th September, the day dedicated to the theme of Mountain&Culture. All participants will be able to enjoy a slow trekking experience through a musical storytelling route. Towards evening there is Scrapsworld, during which artist Raffaele Cornaggia will talk about his art and works, both dedicated to the mountains.

On Saturday 7th September, it will be the turn of Mountain&Stories, during which visitors will meet those who have dedicated their lives to the mountains, their discovery and beauty. Kicking off the afternoon of meetings, an expert will tell of the true nature of the mountains, followed by Giuseppe Lafranconi, a mountaineer who will tell his story and explain his relationship with the mountains and peaks. The day will come to a close with presentation of the book "Eravamo Immortali” (We were immortal) written by Manolo.

Sunday 8th September, on the other hand, will be when everyone is called upon to enjoy the mountains up close, by honouring the 10 most representative peaks of Livigno. This year too, in fact, many are expected to attend Nos3000, an event that celebrates the alpine setting surrounding Little Tibet. Divided into groups of 10/15 people, depending on the peak they wish to reach, all participants will begin their ascent to the top of the mountains at the same time and continue until they reach 3000 metres, again almost all at the same time. Accompanying them on this journey will be the mountain guides and friends of CAI, who, as per tradition, will place the books that preserve the mountain thoughts and stories of those who arrive there in the special niches at the top. There is no need to be an expert or a professional as the starting point of the town centre is already located at 1816m a.s.l., so 3000m a.s.l. is easy for everyone to reach. The wide, open paths make for a pleasant climb even for beginners, whilst more difficult paths are adrenaline-packed and fun for the fitter and more adventurous. Anyone, however, is able to reach the peaks of the Alps surrounding Livigno by choosing the right path. A special excursion is dedicated to children but also the differently-abled, offering an exciting afternoon in close contact with nature.

Dinner will be served in Plaza Placheda to bring the Mountain Festival to a close, gathering together not only those who took part in the excursions, but also those who want to experience this celebration right at the foot of the leading figures in the event, the mountains.
