SNOWFARMING: LIVIGNO DOES IT BETTER: OPENING OF THE CROSS COUNTRY SKIING RING ON 19th OCTOBER!

The Italian and German national teams have already said they’ll be in Livigno from the off. La Sgambeda is celebrating its 30th anniversary in skating. Enrolment is now open and reduced rates are available to anyone who signs up before 13th October. The Visma Ski Classics for champions will be held on 29th November and 1st December.

All over Italy we still think about summer in September, dawns and sunsets become a little chillier but the weather is still sunny during the day. There are a whole host of events in Livigno in September that close the summer season but the appearance of the town is already more wintry. Snowfarming in Livigno made it possible to lay a snow-covered cloak in the town centre in August, entertaining spectators and athletes who attended Palio delle Contrade and 1K SHOT. It also meant that winter training could begin several months in advance, and the opening of the first cross-country ring has been scheduled for 19th October. The Italian national team and German cross-country skiers have already guaranteed their presence around the time of opening, confirming once again that Little Tibet is a paradise for altitude training at any time of the year.

The step from October to November is a short one, and it will soon be time to hail the anniversary of the Sgambeda, Livigno's cross country race, that celebrates its 30th anniversary on 30th November, wrapped in a warm embrace. Enrolment is open and the discounted fee of 50 euros is available to all those who sign up before 13th October, and includes gadgets in the race packages reserved for the first 1000 athletes to sign up.  Said fee comprises technical and medical assistance, professional timekeeping, bag storage, refreshments both en route and on arrival, changing rooms, shuttle buses, showers, pasta parties and awards ceremonies, as well as an exhibition and ski-test area.

From the 30km free technique Sgambeda to the top athletes of the Visma Ski Classics, a prestigious circuit that will start from Livigno with the first competition of the season. It is between Pro Team Time on Friday 29th November which is 15 km long and held the same day on which amateurs will be skating. It then returns to the track on Sunday 1st December with a 35km Mass Start.

Whether it's summer or winter, autumn or spring, Livigno most certainly does it better
