Dovizioso, Pellegrini and Moioli: Livigno is a favourite destination for great sports champions, and not just for training, but seeing the New Year in, too.
2019 started with a bang in Livigno where Andrea Dovizioso from the Ducati team turned up after a hugely successful 2018 to spend a week here with friends. The rider from Romagna enjoyed a few busy days in Livigno, combining sport and relaxation: besides snowboarding, Dovi as he’s also known, didn’t want to miss out on a snowmobile ride at altitude and even spent a day heliskiing, in addition to a couple of training sessions in the gym in Aquagranda Active You, Livigno’s sports centre which is famous providing indoor training at altitude.
This was the second New Year in a row here for the Divina, Federica Pellegrini, who saw the new year in with her family in the alpine resort which has now become her second home. Her holiday was spent shopping and taking long walks along the pedestrian trails in the village, helping her switch off for a few days.
Michela Moioli, gold medalist for Snowboard Cross at the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang and World Cup winner, also stayed in Livigno. During her holiday on the snow, she trained on the slopes which might host the 2026 Olympic Games, should the Italian candidature be successful. For the first time, Michela also had a chance to experience Aquagranda, where she trained in the Fitness&Pool area and relaxed for a few hours in Wellness&Relax.
“I’m delighted our great champions enjoy being in Livigno not simply to train, but relax and celebrate the New Year, too,” said Luca Moretti CEO of Livigno tourist board.
Livigno has become synonymous with top-level sport.
