Two days before the beginning of the winter season, which will coincide with the opening of the cross-country ring on Saturday 19 October, Livigno announced all the news, the appointments and the sports, wine and food and cultural offer of the winter 2019/2020, presented as preview in Milan on the past Tuesday 15 October.
In the presence of numerous local and national media, the Authorities and partners, Livigno has unveiled a preview of the promotions and news of the upcoming winter season: sport, food and eco-sustainability were the protagonists of a magical evening which brought a bit of Little Tibet to the center of Milan.
On the top floor of The Brian & Barry Building, thanks to the large windows of Terrazza12 and the splendid view of Milan Cathedral and the entire city, guests were able to savor Livigno's innovation, tradition and uniqueness from a privileged point of view, which has undoubtedly also recalled the importance that altitude has for the Little Tibet.
With its popular ski area, its 1816 meters of height and the many sports initiatives, Livigno is undoubtedly the queen of high-altitude sports in the Italian Alps: it is here that the Italian freestyle movement has grown and, every year , the destination is chosen by hundreds of internationally renowned athletes for their athletic training. It is one of the strengths that will allow Livigno to host the snowboard and freestyle disciplines at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics, as well as the Olympic Village. Among the guests of the evening of Milan also the Olympic Champion in charge of Snowboard Cross Michela Moioli, who with regards to the Winter Olympics 2026 declared: << I have taken this commitment and I will do my best to respect it, I want and I have to get on the slopes in 2026. I will participate with two disciplines? I don't know - she continued - my experience in parallel was born to improve my coordination, speed and curves. There is the idea of trying to compete with the alpine snowboard, but I will do it only if I feel competitive >>.
To this important victory also the increasingly green direction in which the town, for several years now, is moving, arriving in this 2019 to Livigno Plastic Free". Always attentive to eco-sustainability, the Municipality of Livigno has in fact decided to take a further step in this direction, giving life to a project that will transform the Piccolo Tibet into a real “green” jewel: from this summer, the offices and municipal structures have replaced the monousocon plastic objects with alternatives in biodegradable and / or compostable material and the same thing will do hotels, shops and restaurants by this autumn. At the same time, Aquagranda Active You! has set itself the goal of becoming in effect, within the second half of 2020, a structure that is entirely “zero impact” on the environment, making improvements to the structure's nutrition.
The opening of the cross-country track as early as next Saturday is precisely the end result of one of the eco-sustainable innovations dear to Livigno: the adoption of the Snowfarming technique, which allows the use of conserved snow from past winter to open the cross-country track with record timing and without the use of artificial snow and cannons. << This technique consists of an innovative method of preserving snow based on the use of sawdust and geothermal clothes, which protect it from high summer temperatures and prevent it from melting >> explained during the Milan preview Fabiano Monti, Snowfarm Project Manager . << So - he continued - we can reduce the use of artificial snow by keeping part of the snow of the abundant rainfall at the end of winter >>.
For the winter season there are a series of offers and promotions suitable not only for professional athletes, amateurs and adrenaline lovers, but also for children, families and those looking for some fun in the open air during the winter season.
Absolutely new for the 2019/2020 season is the -50% Junior race valid for the whole season, this special rate is reserved for all children born after 2004: for them, each ticket can be purchased at half the price list reserved for adults.
In the weeks from November 30th to December 20th 2019 and from April 13th to May 3rd 2020, Skipass Free is back instead: staying in Livigno in one of the hotels or apartments respectively for at least 4 nights or 7 nights, guests will receive a free ski pass to access slopes and facilities .
