THE LONG-AWAITED WINTER SEASON IN LIVIGNO, WHERE WINTER SPORTS HAVE NO LIMITS, HAS FINALLY BEEN INAUGURATED

The queen of sport at altitude has kicked off the winter season in Livigno, with the opening of the cross-country skiing ring on Saturday 13th October.

Winter has already begun for the lovers of narrow skis. Indeed, it’s been possible to practice cross-country skiing in Livigno since Saturday 13th October due to the opening of the ring made with snow stored during summer using the snowfarming technique. As of December, this track will be thirty kilometres long, stretching from the central area of the town to Forcola and Alpe Vago. The same track will host both the 29th Sgambeda event the weekend of 30th November to 2nd December - by popular demand the race will return to free style as of this year - and two of the prestigious Visma Ski Classics circuit races.

Many teams have already scheduled their training at altitude in Little Tibet, taking advantage of both the height at which it’s located and its many snow-covered kilometres. The Italian women's and men's national team, headed by Federico Pellegrino, the Spanish, Russian, Norwegian and Finnish teams and stars like Petter Northug and Livo Niskanen are just a few of the athletes visitors to the area could meet in in Livigno over the next few weeks.

It’s not only snow but also water that attracts champions who want to improve their performance. The pool at the Aquagranda Active You! complex will, in fact, be home to the Italian national swimming team, with multi-medalists Federica Pellegrini, Simona Quadarella, Gregorio Paltrinieri, Gabriele Detti and Carlotta Zofkova.

Little Tibet also offers visitors the opportunity to try out the biathlon, thanks to the new shooting range with its 12 positions and electronic shapes, offering a perfect combination between shooting and cross-country skiing.

As every year, the beginning of the season will feature the unmissable Skipass Free promotion for all ski and snowboarding enthusiasts. Indeed, skipasses will be issued free of charge to all those who book a stay of at least 4 nights at one of the hotels or 7 nights at one of the flats taking part in the promotion!

Little Tibet offers a wide range of opportunities in terms of fun in the snow, and winter sports are its speciality due to the vast amounts covering the village and surrounding valleys. As of the beginning of December, 115 km of slopes will be available to skiers, telemarkers and snowboarders snowbarders from all over the world.

The area starts at 1816m a.s.l. and ascends to 2900m where there are 12 black, 37 red and 27 blue slopes all served by 6 cableways (Carosello 3000 I and II, Mottolino, Livigno Centro Tagliede I and II, Cassana), 14 chair lifts - the last one will be inaugurated this year - and 11 ski lifts.

The snow parks of Livigno, devoted to freestyle and snowboard enthusiasts, are also open for the winter season and are well-known throughout Europe owing to the expertise of the team which sets up the Mottolino Snowpark and Carosello 3000 beach each year.

These areas, devoted to adrenaline-lovers, have been built with jumps and structures of different levels in order to make sure anyone who goes there has as much fun as possible.
