2017 La Sgambeda in Italy's Livigno tomorrow (2 December). Gjerdalen, Aukland, Norgren and Smutna among the pros at the start

The 2017 Sgambeda in Italy's Livigno will jump on track tomorrow. However, the Welcome Party is already on today, from 12.00 to 2.00 PM, with food and drink sponsored by Galletto Vallespluga and Birra 1816, plus Radio Montecarlo and an exclusive dj set by Harley & Muscle ft. Zoran.
Women will be the first to show up in the starting area tomorrow, and at 9.25 AM the 28thSgambeda will officially kick off. Men and all amateurs from 25 nations will follow at 10.00 AM. (Registrations are open tomorrow morning at race office).
The Italian event is part of the Visma Ski Classics series and long-distance specialists will surely battle it up. Tord Asle Gjerdalen, Anders Aukland, Stian Hoelgaard, Morten Eide Pedersen, Andreas Nygaard, John Kristian Dahl, Markus Ottosson, Ilya Chernousov, Stanislav Rezác, Simen Østensen, Jörgen Brink, Lukáš Bauer, Eugeny Dementiev plus Italian Thomas and Nicolas Bormolini, Bruno Debertolis and Mauro Brigadoi already collected their bib. And so did Britta Johansson Norgren, Katerina Smutná, Sara Lindborg, Lina Korsgren, Franziska Müller, Astrid Øyre Slind, Evelina Bångman and Heli Heiskanen, among women.
The 35 km-long race track looks perfect and some athletes like Team Santander's have tried the Italian snow these days.
According to a recent survey by European Best Destinations, Livigno has been elected Italy's best ski resort and third on a European scale. 'We are very proud of all we've done and we keep doing – said Local Tourism Office President Luca Moretti – in terms of holiday offers, freeride skiing and different activities in winter season.'
The Minisgambeda for kids is scheduled on Sunday 3 December.
