LIVIGNO, SGAMBEDA GOES TO TORD ASLE GJERDALEN AND BRITTA JOHANSON NORGREN

Once again, the northern European athletes dominate the race of Livigno: Sweden and Norway on the top step of the podium. The Sgambeda wears its mirrored sunglasses and crowns Tord Asle Gjerdalen, the athlete inseparable from his Ray Ban. After the pro athletes, more than 800 Amateurs invaded the ring of 6 km prepared with artificial snow, for 5 laps.

Once again the Sgambeda has been stronger than the weather: on a track of 30 km exceptionally prepared with artificial snow, was held this morning the 27th edition of the ski marathon of Livigno, inserted in Visma Ski Classics circuit that includes the most prestigious races at international level.

Compact snow and fast track characterized the whole race in classic technique, which started with perfect blue sky with a temperature of -8 ° for the professional categories of Women Elite and Men Elite, and that continued at 12.00 with the start of more than 800 amateurs, at -1°. For all of them, the race took place on a ring of 6 km to be repeated 5 times.
Many athletes in the race, for a total of 28 Pro Teams, with the surprisling new entry of cross-country skiers from China.

The race of Women Elite has been characterized by a long heads-up between the Swedish Johanson Britta Norgren (1 silver and 1 bronze in world championships) of Lager 157 Ski Team, and the Czech Katerina Smutna of Team Santander, both also protagonists of the Sgambeda edition 2015. In the final sprint Britta Norgren Johanson has prsuevailed, crossing the line in 1:23:25 with an advantage of just 2 cents on Smutna. Third the Swedish Sara Lindborg of Serneke Team with a delay of 18 cents on the first.

"I am very satisfied with my race- said Johanson at the finish line - and I'm pleasantly surprised to have competed on a track so well prepared, despite the lack of snow in all the Alps".

Even the race of "Men Elite" saw a heads-up between the Norwegian Tord Asle Gjerdalen (2 golds and 2 bronzes in the world championships) of Team Santander and the Russian Ilya Chernousov of Team Pioneer Investiments, after the two create a big distance from group in the last kilometer of the race. The Norwegian, famous for always wearing Ray Ban, imposed on the Russian and triumphed for the first time to Sgambeda in Livigno, with his inseparable mirrored sunglasses in 1:09:59, faster than 2 cents from Chernousov, and 3 cents from the Norwegian Petter Eliasson of Team LeaserPlan.
In the race even the twins athletes of Livigno, Thomas and Nicolas Bormolini of Team Robinson, who finished in 79th and 80th position.

The Sgambeda weekend continues tomorrow with the Minisgambeda, competition for children and kids from 8 to 17 years old, scheduled at 11:00 at the Nordic Ski Center. For them, tracks of different lengths depending on the age. After the competition, the young athletes will have the chance to take part at the pasta party in Plaza Placheda, followed by the awards ceremony.

Throughout the weekend the Expo Village will be opened in Plaza Placheda (location of the award ceremonies and pasta party) in which will be displayed the latest in sports equipment and where the traditional sponsors of the race will have their boots.. Sgambeda race is one of the major sports event supported by Regione Lombardia too, beacuse thanks to its media visibility and ability to attract international athletes, spreads the territorial values around the world.

The prize has been given yesterday evening, during the ceremony at the “Palazzo di Regione Lombardia” in Milan. The project “MY LIVIGNO – Easy Smart & Live” obtained the highest points both from the jury and the online vote.
