OPENING OF THE NEW TRAIL FORCOLA-VAL MINORE (CH)

Ribbon cutting yesterday for the new trekking and MTB trail which starts from Livigno and reaches the Engadin at a constant altitude of about 2,000.

Yesterday took place the opening ceremony of the new trail Forcola-Valminore  in presence of the Italian and Swiss authorities. The new trail connects  Livigno, in Alta Valtellina, with Engadin, in Switzerland.

It starts from Forcola pass in Livigno (2,315 meters) and winds at a constant height reaching  two thousand meters  until the end in Val Minore and Ospizio Bernina in Switzerland.

The mayors of Livigno, Damiano Bormolini, of Pontresina , Martin Haebli, and of Puschlav, Alessandro della Vedova attended the ribbon cutting ceremony which establishes the cooperation about summer tourism between the local authorities of  Livigno and Switzerland. In the Event also took part: Marco Cola, council member for tourism, Remo Galli, the councilor for Sport and Luca Moretti, president of the tourism promotion agency (APT).

The trail “Forcola-Val Minore” is 5,8 km long with a difference in height of 180 m. It takes about 50 minutes starting from the Forcola Pass IT (2,315 meters) and arriving to Ospizio Bernina CH. To the opening event also participated  Hans Rey, the Swiss MTB pioneer, who is for several years the testimonial for Livigno.

“We are so proud of the things that Livigno is doing to develop the MTB sector- said Luca Moretti, President of APT – Livigno is one of the most developed place in Europe and worldwide in the field of Mountain Bike and for us it is important to continue in this direction , because  active tourism is what people are now looking for. Our landscape is somethings unique and the chance to cross the border, thanks to our position on the border with Switzerland and on the top of Alta Valtellina, is certainly an added value for the trails network of Livigno and Alta Valtellina”.
