THE MOST EVOCATIVE NIGHT OF THE YEAR STARTS AT SUNSET: ALL THE LIGHTS GO OFF IN LIVIGNO FOR THE MAGICAL ‘NOTTE NERA’.

On Friday, 10th August there is an appointment with local traditions and folklore in Little Tibet, lit only by the flames of torches and lanterns.

Like every summer, on the evening of 10th August Livigno will switch off all the lights to let the flames of torches and lanterns light up the entire village. Notte Nera, literally Black Night, is an unmissable appointment for those who love the enchantingly magical atmosphere of special feasts. Lit only by the gleam of candles and lanterns, the roads of the centre of Livigno come alive as of sunset amongst the wonderful performances of street artists, the live music, group dances and other typical expressions of mountain folklore. Strolling through the streets, visitors can also enjoy the best of Livigno's food and wine, with its typical products and unmistakeable flavours.

For one night, Little Tibet dives into the past, turning into a village from bygone times. By switching off all the lights in the village to celebrate the customs and traditions of the past, Livigno turns into a village from days gone by, with the shining flames of candles, torches and lanterns to brighten up the streets along with the sparkling stars and moon.

As of 9pm, the traffic also stops in order to leave room for the many musical shows and animation which follow one another until late into the night. MUS! – the museum of Livigno and Trepalle also takes part int the celebrations, offering visitors the opportunity to relive the exciting atmosphere of bygone times to the full as of 8.45p.m., with a visit in the dark, without any artificial lighting. Lanterns and torches are on sale in different sales points set up along the roads of the village in order to allow all participants to get their bearings amongst the various different sideshows, becoming an integral part of the celebrations.

The evening will culminate in great style at 11p.m. when the huge bonfire located in the carpark in the area of Mottolino is lit. Its dancing flames will light up the night and the extraordinary surrounding alpine landscape. Celebrations will continue until 1a.m. and for the entire evening public transport will be guaranteed and increased in order to make taking part in the event easier for visitors. Further information and the detailed programme of the evening will shortly be available at: www.livigno.eu/nottenera
