From 12th to 14th December Livigno becomes the temple of cross-country skiing. The 25th edition of La Sgambeda this year will be part of the international circuit Swix Ski Classics. Serajna Boner and Stanislav Rezac will also take part to the race. Antonio Rossi will officially open the race.
One week before the official start of the 25th edition of La Sgambeda, everything is ready in Livigno to welcome the first cross-country race for the season 2014/15. Nordic skiing enthusiasts waiting for this great appointment to kick off the season, this year can count on an edition that has several new features: first of all La Sgambeda Classic on Sunday 14th December, then we should underline that this event has been included in the prestigious international circuit Swix Classics (9 races in total) that encompasses the classical race from all over the world including the Vasaloppet and Marcialonga. The Swix Ski Classics this year will kick off in Livigno with a Prologue race on 13th December. Friday 12th December is expected La Sgambeda Marathon, while the appointment with children and young people is for the 13th December with La Minisgambeda. Till today have been collected 600 registrations for the La Sgambeda Marathon and 800 for La Sgambeda Classic, registration is open online until Tuesday 9th December at the website www.lasgambeda.
Among the athletes are expected for the Classic race the Russian Tatjana Yambaeva of Team Futura, the Swiss Seraina Boner of Team Coop, the Czech Stanislav Rezac of Silvini Madshus Team, and the Sweden Joergen Brink of Lager 157 Ski Team.
For the Marathon stand out names such as Antonella Confortola of Corps of forest rangers, the Ukrainian Valentina Shevchenko of Dynamo Kiev, Sergio Bonaldi of Scame - Ski Trab Marathon Team, the Frenchman Benoit Chauvet of Gel Interim - Rossignol Ski Team. And are still several the athletes (including the Italian National Team) that, from here to Tuesday, will decide to join the race.
The official start of La Sgambeda Classic, scheduled for Sunday 14th December at 9:30 am at the Nordic ski Center, will be given by Antonio Rossi, Olympic canoeing champion and Councillor for Sports and Youth Policy of the Lombardy Region.
Friday 12th December at 16:00 in Plaza Placheda, will be held the press conference Swix Classics - La Sgambeda, that will be attended by the winners of the last edition: Seraina Boner, Johan Kiolstad, John Kristian Dahl, Inger Liv Bjerkreim Nilsen e Christoffer Callesen.
Will be also present: Team United Bakeries, Team Santander, Team Coop, Team Director, Team LassePlan, Russia Marathon Team.
Livigno will be represented by President of Tourism Board, Luca Moretti.
