CHECK&GO - LIVIGNO’S NEW PROJECT FOR WORRY-FREE HIKING

Check&Go has been developed to allow visitors to enjoy a hike in all tranquillity. This fast new, user-friendly tech way of checking people flow on a number of paths in Little Tibet before setting off, means visitors can choose the best route for their needs and enjoy nature worry-free.

For those who love the mountains, altitude and cool climates, but also those wishing to spend time with family or friends surrounded by the beauty of nature, summer becomes a synonym for walks and hiking.

There’s no need to be an expert in extreme sports or experience adrenaline-highs: the mountains of Livigno are for everyone. In order to make stays more pleasant for visitors of any age and skill level, our hiking offer is key to summer holidays in Little Tibet. It has been further enhanced this year with more new features, experiences and activities for enjoying a safe, worry-free stay in the mountains.

The first of the new features, Check&Go, was developed this year and is a quick, easy, user-friendly way of choosing the best path for a hike, even before setting out. QR code panels have been placed at the entrances to the most popular trails and will remain there throughout the summer season. Hikers simply have to scan the code to “check-in” to the path and the MyLivigno App and official website will do the rest.

Indeed, before even putting on a rucksack, hikers and bikers will be able to access livigno.eu/check-and-go or the My Livigno App to assess the people flow on different routes at any given time. This will enable them to choose the least busy one that is best suited to their hiking needs and enjoy the beauty of Little Tibet in complete tranquility.

Hiking in Livigno has always been an activity suited to any age and level of preparation. Hikers and trekking lovers can choose the path that best suits their skills and needs from the 1500km of trails available through the beautiful landscape of Little Tibet. From a quiet walk along Livigno’s cycle path to the highest peaks, from art trails to more adrenaline-packed walks or those immersed in the woods, Livigno offers the perfect experience for everyone. Our Alpine Guides have made summer 2020 even more special by proposing a range of innovations. Indeed, they’ve drawn up a program for visitors packed with activities to enjoy with family in nature, such as the half-day themed walks accessible to everyone and organised every Wednesday and Friday. During the walks, participants will enjoy a unique experience in close contact with nature and animals.

There are also routes that combine trekking and long walks with adrenalin-highs, cycling and even disciplines and sports such as yoga. With Bike and Hike, for example, participants reach a stunning 3000m peak in the company of an Alpine Guide which mixes trekking and e-biking. The combination of these two activities makes for an unforgettable experience and the route mainly covers a pathway with stretches of stony ground and short exposed passages, for a total of about 15km and a difference in altitude of 700m to 1100m, totalling around 8 hours. Alternatively, by choosing an experience like that of Sul Filo dei 3000, for example, participants reach the ridges, peaks and alpine lakes straddling the Swiss border. The route primarily covers a carefully marked path, but stretches on stone and along the short exposed paths means trekking can be combined with climbing. For those who want to enjoy an experience of pure adrenaline - without exaggerating - there is Adventuring in Val delle Mine, a trail set in the nature of Val delle Mine to experience with the whole family and tackle by first crossing a short via ferrata (or iron path) and going on the cableways hanging over the creek, continuing on with fords and trails requiring balance and skill.

Yoga lovers can also enjoy the benefits of altitude and the breathtaking landscapes of Little Tibet. One of experiences that simply must not be missed is Yoga Active, a mix of trekking, climbing and yoga, the aim of which is to improve flexibility and also awareness when breathing. It has been developed through the working relationship between the Alpine Guides and a Yoga Teacher in order to increase physical well-being through a range of movements, both large and small, which can change the way you experience the great outdoors. For enthusiasts but also beginners, it is an out and out sun salutation and includes a wellness brunch too, so the Carosello 3000 Yoga Experience simply must not be missed. Every Sunday morning at 6.30a.m., participants set off from the Carosello 3000 refreshment area and head up the mountain by cable car. They walk along the crest of the mountain to Madonon, an evocative spot with a view over the entire valley of Livigno. Here, they take a special Ashtanga Yoga class facing the sun, which will be rising above the peaks at that time, before returning to the Carosello 3000 lodge. They complete the experience at best, with a wellness brunch amongst the mountain tops of Little Tibet.

There is no shortage of experiences and excursions with our Alpine Guides for the more experienced either. Among these, the Excursion to the Forni glacier simply cannot be missed, a ring-shaped route in the heart of Stelvio national park that reaches the face of the Forni glacier, along which there are remnants of World War One. Another trail covers some of the most beautiful peaks of the Cantrali Alps. This is basically an easy mountaineering trail along the normal routes, with a range of itineraries mainly on glaciers up to almost 4000m, to enjoy during the day or with an overnight stay in a lodge or bivouac; Pizzo Bernina is the only 4000m peak in the Central Alps, reached by climbing along a normal pathway of medium difficulty, or via the long, extraordinary Biancograt ridge. Visitors can also opt for organising a three day trip at high altitude too, by linking Pizzo Bernina and Pizzo Palù with an overnight stay at Marco and Rosa’s lodge located at 3600m a.s.l.. Moreover, there is the Multi-Pitch long route, a climb on the great ‘walls’ of the Alps along the rope-lines that have made the history of mountaineering, such as the Spigolo Nord del Badile, the Via Cassin al Badile, the Spigolo Vinci al Cengalo, the Dolomites and Albigna. Lastly, those who are already familiar with hiking mustn’t miss out on a hike in Stelvio National Park in the wild valleys of the northern area of Livigno to observe and photograph the typical mountain animals.

For those who want to enter the world of mountaineering or improve their technique, the Alpine Guides offer a Basic Mountaineering Course to learn the necessary skills for setting out on easy mountaineering routes alone. The course includes three outings: one day on rock, one on ice and one for an alpine climb on glacier terrain at high altitude with an overnight stay in a lodge or bivouac, and the route chosen based on the technical skills of the participants.

Livigno’s active offer for visitors is completed with a range of outdoor activities that match the beauty and uniqueness of the area perfectly. Besides mountain biking, hiking and trekking, these include climbing with Alpine Guides as well as running, golf and tennis. Mottolino Fun Mountain, Carosello 3000 Mountain Park and Sitas Mountain Area, with their efficient, modern ski lifts connect the town centre to the most evocative peaks of Livigno, so visitors can reach the many different pathways. Don’t miss out on the water activities on Lake Livigno either, with kayaks, stand up paddles boats, rowboats and pedalos.
