IN LIVIGNO EVERYTHING WAS READY FOR THE REOPENING: THE DISAPPOINTMENT OF LIVIGNO IN FRONT THE UMPTEENTH STOP OF SKIING.

<<The mountain deserves more respect - comments Luca Moretti, President of APT Livigno - In just 10 hours, investments of thousands of euros, hours of work and the hope of many families have gone up in smoke with a short press note.>>

In the last weeks, after the long awaited decree of the Government that would have allowed lifts to reopen today, Small Tibet and the whole mountain have seen that dream become more and more concrete that had so animated the nights of the ski lifts operators, ski instructors, restaurateurs, hoteliers and snow workers.

For months, the operators of Livigno have worked non-stop to be ready for this day, during which the slopes of the Small Tibet should have come back to life and return to see the fans whizzing on the snow that has fallen generously in recent weeks. But only 12 hours after the reopening of the lifts, Livigno has seen the sacrifices of hard days, weeks and months of work disappear for the umpteenth time.
There is talk again of cancellations, refunds, signed seasonal contracts that once again will not see the light of day, orders for goods and materials that will not be used, investments of time and money of local entrepreneurs that will not see their sacrifice repaid: the mountain is still, and among the streets of Little Tibet there is an air of great disappointment.

<<It is unbelievable as to little hours from the much waited for reopening all is had toto block still once: they are enough little lines of a press note in order to shatter the dreams of the many workers who have spent money and energy just waiting for this morning - comments disappointed Luca Moretti, President of APT Livigno - We did notexpected it,, we feel like they made fun of us: the mountain, its workers, its families, deserve more respect. Livigno was the first to work hard, a year ago, to try to contain the spread of the pandemic, adapting activities, structures, facilities and also its offer, in compliance with the numerous decrees, so as to become a safer and safer place for mountain lovers to find a bit of carefree fun in the mountains  in this difficult moment>>.

<<What sorrow us most is to see the Government that has not had respect of ourswork and the hundreds of thousands of euros spent in recent weeks to be able to reopen everything - continues Luca Moretti - we are not only talking about the lifts, but also of all those and commercial activities, restaurants, ski schools and the whole machine that the snow moves. Everyone has made their investments in order to get ready for today: more than ask for compensation, we should ask for damages in this situation. Starting from today, in the 5,000 people should have arrived in Livigno in the next few days, while many others had arrived a few days in advance over the weekend and found themselves leaving this morning. 2.500 ski passes have already been sold and withdrawn and will now have to be refunded.

Those who make the laws should think more about reasoning with the numbers and the different situations: if we compare the number of beds offered by the resort, in the case of Livigno about 15,000, to the square kilometers in which these people would be to practice different sports and activities, it would be really quick to understand that the possibility of creating gatherings is reduced to a very low percentage, lower than the possibility of creating an assembly outside a store in a shopping center.

Not to mention that in order to avoid situations like these Livigno, as well as many other mountain resorts, has activated the online sale of ski passes, and has set up automatic cash machines and pick-up points to avoid long queues, every way to guarantee the respect of the maximum capacity of 50% of the lifts. But all this nothing has helped: the feeling, unfortunately, is that the mountain must leave this illusion and consider this season closed, with many thousands of euros less in their pockets, numerous local activities that do not know if they will ever be able to reopen and so many families in serious and serious difficulties>>.

This morning the Ski Instructors of Livigno's schools have also taken to the field: a peaceful protest saw them gathered on those slopes that should be their place of work to give voice to the more than 200 families who live thanks to skiing and who are part of that much higher number of people who live thanks to the snow and the mountain and who have been living on hope for about a year now.
