Snowboard Cross World Cup Ready to restart: Michela Moioli is immediately protagonist. The athlete of Livigno Team is looking forward to the World Championship

The 2021 Snowboard Cross World Cup starts from Valtellina. On Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th January the first and second stage of the Circuit took place in the setting of the Valmalenco Bernina Ski Resort.

Among the 90 athletes at the starting gate, there was also the reigning World Champion Michela Moioli, who is establishing a relationship of love and trust with the mountains of Valtellina, thanks to her special bond with Livigno, which has elected her as one of the symbolic athletes in view of the 2026 Olympic Games.

The spearhead of the Italian national team, athlete of the Centro Sportivo Esercito, inaugurated the season with a convincing and spectacular victory in Saturday's stage ahead of the American Faye Gulini and the Czech Eva Samkova, and then confirmed herself among the best of the group also the following day, collecting a good fourth place.

A great start for the ranking and a weekend full of good feelings for Michela, who in the weeks before the Valtellina event had finally returned to the track, after months of uncertainty, participating in some FIS races.

It was the ability to keep her concentration intact that allowed the Livigno Team athlete, Olympic gold medalist in Pyeongchang 2018, to continue her preparation with the usual, maniacal attention to detail, despite a start of the season characterized by numerous postponements."

“The balance is more than positive because two finals in two days, with a first and a fourth place, are an excellent starting point” commented Michela “they have definitely given me a lot of confidence also in view of the World Championships, which are the next stage. I am really happy. Now I'll rest a few days and recharge my batteries, aware that the road taken is the right one.”"

Better late than never, then, for the start of a World Cup that has certainly been delayed, but that already portends a winter full of emotions for Michela Moioli, with the imminent highlight of the World Championships, scheduled for February 11 in Idre Fjäll, Sweden.

Another reason of satisfaction for our team is that during the stage in Valmalenco we could celebrate the absolute debut in the World Cup of Niccolò Colturi, snowboarder born in 2003, new entry of this season among the Livigno Team athletes.
