ON 1ST DECEMBER LIVIGNO INAUGURATES ITS SNOW-PARTY: THE FACILITIES AND SNOWPARK OPEN

Recently appointed European Town of Sport 2019 and with a position on the podium at the European Best Ski Resorts 2019, Little Tibet is all set to cut the ribbon of the 2018-2019 winter season. The fun is guaranteed, and not only for skiers, as visitors can practice a range of winter sports in Livigno suited to all levels of preparation. Moreover, our Skipass Free promotion returns, kicking off with the inauguration and continuing until 21st December.

You’ll never get bored when it comes to snow in Livigno! Thanks to the snowfarming technique lovers of narrow skis can train on the cross-country ring in the very heart of the village, which has been open since the 13th October. Now it’s time for everyone to warm up and dust off their skis, tables/snowboards?, snowshoes and skins. The ski season in Livigno will officially begin on 1st December when the ski lifts open.

With a network of an impressive 115km of slopes, Livigno offers the best school both for beginners and for more experienced athletes who want an even more exciting experience. From the 1816m a.s.l. of the village centre, the slopes climb to 2900 metres where there are 12 black, 37 red and 27 blue slopes, all of which are served by 6 cableways (Carosello 3000 I and II, Mottolino, Livigno Centro Tagliede I and II, Cassana), 11 ski lifts and 14 chair lifts, the last of which was opened this year and connects the Eira pass with the arrival area of the Mottolino cableway.

Its unique position nestled in the Italian Alps, the extensive range of sports to practice on the snow, a lively lifestyle both during the day and at night and cutting-edge facilities and structures for sport and relaxation are just a few of the features that make Livigno one of the best-loved winter destinations in Europe. Just a few days ago, we received confirmation that Livigno has been nominated European Town of Sport 2019 by the ACES Europe Commission which awards the services offered to both sportspeople who train here at altitude and those who are new to winter sports. Livigno also won a silver medal at the European Best Ski Resorts 2019. A community of over 130,000 travellers and sportspeople from all over the world took part in this year’s record edition, expressing their vote online and crowning Little Tibet as the top Italian ski resort and second in Europe of the 16 listed.

The position of the slopes is undoubtedly a feature that convinces the thousands of visitors who choose Livigno for a break on the snow every year. Many set out for the day from the very centre of the village near their hotels and apartments, rather than using their cars to access this huge playground in the snow where they can ski and practice other winter sports.

Adrenaline lovers appreciate not only the completeness of the facilities, but also the passion and professionalism with which the two snowparks dedicated to freestyle and snowboard enthusiasts are managed: Mottolino Snowpark, The Beach at Carosello 3000 and several mini snowparks. These are huge areas where visitors can test their skills choosing from from many easy, medium and difficult jumps, exciting tricks in the snow and breathtaking descents. To make the snowparks even more easily accessible, two new free shuttles will be activated for the season that will allow skiers to transfer from Carosello to Mottolino and vice versa in just a few minutes.

Another feature which makes Livigno so popular on the panorama of ski resorts is the contact visitors have with nature. At one with the snow, they can head out onto visible serpentines to enjoy days spent tackling steep slopes, ditches and gorges in complete freedom. This is how Livigno presents itself to lovers of fresh snow. More and more off-piste descent fans arrive in Little Tibet from all over the world to enjoy the 100 km2 backcountry area, a huge expanse of fresh snow just waiting to be furled by skis and snowboards safely thanks to the Eliski service and our Freeride Project. Said project was developed in 2013 to raise awareness amongst sportspeople about a more responsible off-piste approach. This is achieved by means of meetings with local guides and the careful, constant assistance of the local avalanche bulletin.

Visitors who love a mountain adventure can devote themselves to ski mountaineering and snowshoeing, choosing among the many routes available. Alternatively, anyone who prefers two wheels can try their hand at fat biking along the beaten pedestrian track, which can be used all year round even by lovers of winter trail running and Nordic walking.

Skipasses will be free for visitors staying in Livigno in one of the affiliated hotels for at least 4 nights or in an apartment for 7 until 21st December 2018 and from 6th April to 1st May 2019. Moreover, guests staying in one of the affiliated hotels will also receive a Livigno Winter Card free of charge which allows them to access a number of discounts in the village

There is no lack of opportunities for fun even when visitors take their skis off. Indeed, we recently inaugurated the Biathlon Arena located in the Forcola area, along the cross-country track. A modern shooting range with 12 electronic shapes, it suits the requirements of professional athletes and enthusiasts perfectly. Amongst other unconventional activities in Livigno guests can also devote themselves to horse riding and ice skating, or experience the thrill of paragliding, taking off directly from the slopes wearing their skis to enjoy a unique view from on high.

And last but certainly not least, Livigno is enjoyed by both Italian and international tourism for its unique position on a spectacular plateau nestled among the Italian Alps. Pure air and the benefits of high altitude combined with the many services for wellness, relaxation and sport offered by the Aquagranda Active You! complex, the highest in Europe, make Little Tibet a perfect destination for training at altitude. This applies both to the most experienced athletes and anyone wishing to simply perfect their daily training. All guests are welcome in Livigno, and a highly qualified team of ski instructors, mountain guides and other professionals welcome visitors. This is true especially for little ones and their families to whom the resort offers special services and promotions for the entire season. From 26th January to 2nd February and from 23rd to 30th March 2019 there are the Family Week Kids Go Free, offering discounts for under 12s: a free stay in a hotel, and a 15% discount in an apartment for the first child and a 50% discount on the stay of other children born after 2007.
